I shall add it to the list! As well as Central City!Go for it.
If you care to do the same for the mountaintop Superman land (are we calling that Fortress of Solitude?), I’d much appreciate it.
This evening I’ll be hammering out a synopsis of the Escape from Krypron strata coaster. And maybe considering the overall budget too.
Here's what I'm thinking for the "Escape from Krypton" strata coaster (Kingda Ka style coaster).
It is fully themed, a retelling of Kal-El's escape from the dying Krypton and journey to Earth. From the outside, the main 400'+ tower resembles a gigantic LexCorp skyscraper (note the Daily Planet it dwarfs), which ties into the "Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom" drop ride found in Metropolis. The loading structure is the Fortress of Solitude. Much of the straightaway section in between encloses the coaster (as does most of the tower); this can appear like natural Kansas landscape.
The queue begins within the Fortress of Solitude. The land is Superman's Arctic abode. However, most of the queue and preshow are set on Krypton. @kmbmw777, is there any reasonable way to transition locations?
Anyway, queue sees guests visiting a dying Krypton. Preshow is the Council of Krypton, where elders accuse us of heresy for claiming the planet will explode. Jor-El overrides their trial and speaks to us in hologram about planetary evacuation as the room starts to shudder with explosions.
As Krypton collapses all around, guests queue down halls (with window screens) into Jor-El's labs. Here they load evac spaceships.
Ride. Pre-launch can take over a minute on this ride type. This allows for a show scene with a Musion Jor-El hologram and AA computers prepping us for our flight as more destruction occurs all around. "Head back. Hold on tight. Make a better world than this." LAUNCH.
120mph or more! Still indoors across the exploding Kryptonian surface, then vertically upwards 400'+ (still indoors) into outer space in a starfield.
The top hat or inversion at the top represents entry into Earth's atmosphere. Here trains emerge outdoors.
They plummet vertically down the side of the tower straight towards the Kansas fields below. Maybe even into a tunnel - make it seem like we're really crashing into Earth!
(There's an option to extend the ride from this point in a way Kingda Ka and TTD do not. That can be added to this story spine.)
Slowdown in a dirt tunnel, sounds of rock flying away, into an icy Arctic cavern. A separate unload station is in the Fortress of Solitude. Icy screens show Jor-El welcoming us to our new home...Earth.
To present this, I'd like to try doing storyboards like in the EPCOT Switzerland packet.
The other two rides in this Superman land are Tatsu the flying coaster and Ninja the inverted Arrow coaster.
Tatsu will become "Superman's First Flight." Its retheme is mostly in the queue building, a crashed Kryptonian ship where Jor-El teaches us of our Kryptonian heritage and inspires us to fly. Add on-ride speakers with this music from Man of Steel.
Ninja will become "Wrath of Zod." (Debating between that and a Bizarro theme, but that's already common to Six Flags.) Mostly another queue retheme, inside Zod's World Engine, and with more Man of Steel music on-ride. (Ninja crisscrosses Jet Stream, which we're planning on giving an Aquaman theme.)
Lastly, should we do anything with the park's iconic SkyTower? It's found on this land's mountaintop, and presently serves no function.
The tower could also eventually be the basis for a polercoaster. It's too iconic to remove. I dunno.i like everything that you’ve done! There definately is a way. The first thing that pops into my head would be using something that Superman’s father left him in a computer. This computer file could create a hologram of the story of Krypton’s demise, which we enter for our ride.
Also, I’m all for removing the watchtower; but my question is - where do all the kids want to take their pictures by. At SF:GA it’s in front of the carousel and pool of water.
Haha, I will also call it a night for tonight. I’ve gotta cram for the AP Comp Sci practice test tomorrow! The tower could also eventually be the basis for a polercoaster. It's too iconic to remove. I dunno.
Gonna duck out for a few hours!

I supposed so, I'm giving my coaster bigger budgets, as I'm adding theming and one or two show scenes to Indy, doing a full build for SW, and the Muppets Coasters is getting extended, and reimagined.@DisneyFan18, notes on that budget. Most of the coaster redos mentioned will likely be simple queue and station alterations. Not complete ride rethemes (like building a mountain into a giga coaster). Hence why the costs are relatively low.
Any questions, shoot.
I’m definitely feeling like we should try to find a way to give the flash Coaster a clever theme to make it kind of fit with its environment but not have too high of a theming cost. Though granted I don’t know much about the Flash aside from he’s fast (I’ve been meaning to get around to the TV show, I heard it’s good!).Morning. Good luck on your test today, @kmbmw777!
Hoping that by this evening we can get some brainstorming progress made on the Flash coaster and the Central City entry area.
These are the two biggest parts of the puzzle which remain in limbo. All the land and ride redos have seen really good development, and I can likely begin making final content on Superman Summit starting today.
@IDInstitute, @Poe Dameron, what do you guys think?
The Flash coaster will be all-new, a launched coaster, the world's fastest. Regarding layout, it will be the PeopleMover of roller coasters, crossing common areas and going into its own show scenes. Name? I dunno, The Flash: Speed Force.I’m definitely feeling like we should try to find a way to give the flash Coaster a clever theme to make it kind of fit with its environment but not have too high of a theming cost. Is the flash planned to be a new build or revamp/what details do we have so far? Something that could be a fun idea for the flash, as long as make sure the coaster vehicle timing is right, could be a cool effect where it looks like it’s traveling faster than it is from guests perspectives throughout the land. Like by that I mean the vehicle could be in one area and launches past you, and then before you know it you see the vehicle launch by you again on the other side of the land. If the design layout is good it might seem like it’s the same car just going super fast like the flash, even though it would be separate vehicles.
I love the idea for using the Flash Museum - I’ll type more ideas later. I’ve gotta tutor some freshmen today during advisory. Overall, Eobard Thawne (who disguised himself as Harrison Wells in the TV Show) is the best choice for the villain. In the comics, he goes by Professor Zoom, but he is known to the many fans of the TV show as the Reverse Flash. Again, I will type more up later. The Flash coaster will be all-new, a launched coaster, the world's fastest. Regarding layout, it will be the PeopleMover of roller coasters, crossing common areas and going into its own show scenes. Name? I dunno, The Flash: Speed Force.
Kevin knows DC best of anyone, but here's a stab at theming. Queue in the Flash Museum. Exhibits give Barry Allen's backstory as needed. Ride vehicles might be the cosmic treadmill - I dunno. Or the launch can be a recreation of the Star Labs (?) accident which gave Barry access to the Speed Force. Launch!
On-ride theming (when not crossing walkways and such) can be - Racing through the skyscraper "canyons" of Central City. We can make building facades distorted, slanted, blurred, so they emphasize the sense of speed. Also do speed tunnels, which can have neon light displays to also suggest super speed. Crossing from land to land via these tunnels can be like time travel or teleporting.
As for story? Which is really hard to tell when going 160mph or so. Flash is racing a villain I guess. Kevin can help there!
What I'll do as soon as possible is work on fitting this ride into the Magic Mountain map.
