I know the swan or dolphi offers a teacher's discount for rooms, but do any Disney resorts offer anything similiar?

Id check with Pam of Kingdom Konsultants ( 1866-566-7858) to get the latest and greatest info on discounts available. I thought that only the Swan & Dolphin gave the teachers discount but I know Disney give AAA and some others. Id check with her to see what is the way to go here. Belle

I know Teachers used to receive the Magic Kingdom Club Card for free, but that was discountinued a long time ago. I don't really think Disney goes out of their way for teachers anymore, but it never hurt to ask.

Yeah my mom always for the Magic Kingdom Club Card for free but they got rid of that a while ago. I didn't know about the discount at the Swan and Dolphin though. I've always wanted to stay there. I could probably talk my parents into it if it was a discount!

I can assume Swan and Dolphin do this, but not the rest of WDW? Swan and Dolphin aren't fully owned by Disney, allowing them to make their own rules, correct?

Yes, Swan and Dolphin give tremendous discounts to teachers and nurses. And the best part is that the special rates are a flat rate year round, there are no "seasons." I believe we payed about 129/night for the room. (Same period that Moderate Resorts had rack rates of 209/night :lookaroun ).

And, did you know, during the past 100 Years of Magic Celebration, these sister Resorts were offering 100/night for the night that anyone in your party was celebrating a birthday?! We took advantage of that, and then found out about the great teacher rate. (That birthday rate is no longer available.) The teacher/ nurse rate is alive and kicking tho.

Great location and amenities. Great beds too.

Just makes ya wish Disney could offer more for teachers like they did in the past. Or not jsut for teachers, but nice discounts that anyone could use that you dont have to fight for at 7am in the morning.

Remember when WDW used to give teachers free entery to the parks? Or was it just Epcot? This would have been 10 to 14 years ago. I am pretty sure this was true. I had a friend who was a teacher in FLA and went for free, but I think you could of been in any state. I belive you needed a currenlt teacher certificate and and paycheck stub. I don't think pre-school or college teachers quailfed. (Since I taught pre-school and hubby college.)

Does anyone else remember this? I don' think I dreamed it, but it was before I started my annual (or more often) treks to WDW.

BTW if you are teacher, please don't grade me on my spelling, it late and I am bleary eyed!

Yes PhD, I do believe I remember that specifically at Epcot. Both my parents are teachers, and I remember as a very young kid waiting for my parents to get their "special passes" at Epcot. I remember it so vividly b/c Living Seas could be smelt from where we were waiting in line and it emitted a horrendous odor and I thought it was the worst smell as a child. My paents still have those old passes, actually.

My wife is a teacher and we stay at the Swan every August. For years we got a rate of $129 a night (for both the Swan & Dolphin) but this year it was raised to $149 for the Swan and $139 for the Dolphin. As far as I know these new rates are still in effect.

Rather than comment on what I think of the concept of a teacher/nurse discount, I will just say that Disney does NOT offer any kind of an educator's discount, or any other type of career-based discount with the exception of military through Shades of Green, and some of the special promotions like after 9/11, the hurricane helpers one they were doing the last few months, etc. If someone here thinks they have seen a discount based on being a band director, it could POSSIBLY have been a special "convention" type rate through Magic Music Days, but that's about it. Anything else like that that you run into is someone else trying to get you to spend money with them, like a travel agent or some other outfit giving you a "discount" and screwing you on the other end.
