Tapestry of Nations/Dreams coming back?!

I remember very little of it. We saw it during the milenium(sp?) celebration, but it didn't make a lasting impression. I remember a giant float with a guy playing a revolving wheel of drums, but other than that, meh.

ToN is one of my lasting memories from 2001...dusk... outside Norway... ahh!!

Great parade in concept.... too many problems in execution. A bit like Light Magic. As mentioned earlier, a combination of ToN/D and LM with the obvious performer issues (MKT has the full list) addressed could be a winner. Afterall, World Showcase Promonade was designed from the start to host a full parade.

I really do hope they come back with some time of parade in EPCOT. There was just something different about watching the parade then seeing Reflections of Earth, as opposed to sitting there for two hours, and just seeing Reflections of Earth. Speaking of RoE, does anyone know if they've replaced the barge that exploded yet?

"Both ALF systems (on the UK pavilion and on the inferno barge), have been pulled from the show whilst investigations are ongoing."

What exactly does that mean? Is there still the fire blast in the beginning, just without the fireworks coming out of it?

No the entire Inferno barge has been removed from the show temporarily. This means there is no air launch firework at the beginning of the show, nor is there the fireball effects.

ALF is an air-launch fireworks system (i think) which is supposed to be very accurate. Normally you a little explosion in the tube and the firework kinda sorta ends up where you want - versus the air-launch where they could be very accurate with the location. The comet is launched from the UK and makes the perfect arch to the center of the lagoon and is met by a air-launched firework from the inferno barge - the firework from the UK does not make the first big explosion as most assume, but rather the one from the inferno barge does. The one frok the UK just sparkles after a delay.

I could be completely off-base, as i seem to be moreso lately than usual, so someone wants to confirm, thanks ;)

disc, hammer, and marionette.

Disc WAS the heaviest, but it was actually the only one that didn't bother me. It was the Marionette and hammer that hurt me.

none of them were hard to operate... Marionette just had horrible weight distribution, which sent my back out to hell twice. Hammer wasn't hard to see from, except sometimes the puppets legs would fly back and hit you in the face... and they had sharp edges.

I did, but a heavy backpack isn't affected by heavy winds

This is exactly why, while neat parades, they were dangerous. In 2002, I saw a TOD performer blown all the way down onto his back during a sudden high wind gust. Needless to say, it was a bit frightening to see someone blown down so easily right in front of me. The puppet was so big and heavy that all he could do was just lay there. He could have very easily been seriously injured (luckily he wasn't, as far as I know). After we saw that he was okay, my roomates and I went off looking for their friend who was performing in the parade too, just to make sure that the wind hadn't gotten her too. But, yeah, it was a bad situation that could have been a lot worse. It's not surprising that they no longer run the parade anymore.

I thought they canceled the preformances if there is any high winds...

They did, but this storm blew up in a matter of minutes out of nowhere and the parade had already started. No one was expecting the gust, least of all the performers.

there is a different between being supposed to do something, and ACTUALLY doing it. Needless to say, certain parade managers could have cared less if there was wind. My back is a testament to this.

Tigger248, there's a chance I was the performer you saw get knocked over.

Did performers get knocked over often? If so, shame on Disney for letting this happen. Cast members health is more important. The show I was referring to was in late May or very early June of 2002, right at the beginning of my cp. I'm glad that you weren't more seriously injured.

That was the only time I've ever seen disorder amongst cast members in the middle of a performance. As the non-puppeteers helped the puppeteers get the puppets off their backs and all the performers scrambled back stage. I think all the guests understood though.
