Tangled Area Opening Date

There is lack of spending..
then there is spending poorly..
and then there is spending wisely..

Just throwing money around doesn't make it a good thing. Unless they have some magic they haven't revealed yet.. if this purely is just some restrooms.. this is getting to be a poster child for the misguided application of WDI's abilities. Focusing on the ornate details.. while missing the bigger goals.

It's like the old adage of the beautiful woman, who is a complete airhead. Great to look at, drives you wild at first, and then leaves you feeling devoid of true companionship.
I think the "Staff of Ra" hidden Mickey at the grotto is a great example - how much did that plussing cost?

While I think it's cool that there are some awesomely themed restrooms coming I am a little confused as to why we are going all out for restrooms. Are there other restrooms on property that are so elaborately themed? I can't think of any. Aren't the restrooms usually in a building that looks like all the other buildings in the area? Could these restrooms be a set up/precursor to something else? Also, how does one decide which movie is lucky enough to get a restroom designed after it? I get why the restrooms are being moved and I'm happy that the Pan queue will get some love, I'm just confused by how big a deal the restrooms seem to be.

I don't think its that Disney is trying to go all out just for some restrooms, its more likely the fact that they have to do something more than just plain old restrooms seeing as this area is a transition between lands. I think its also related to New Fantasyland and trying to tie it all together. We're going to be seeing rockwork and waterfalls just as you do in the new expansion, this will help bring it all together as a cohesive land.

Aaahhh, ok. That makes more sense. I have not been to the World since all the restroom construction started so my mind's eye is a little fuzzy on the details of the area.

Ok, I promise to stop being a TDO basher if you promise to stop being a TDO Apologist.

I am not an apologist. I am telling you the truth. And people like you clearly cannot handle the truth!

And just because someone states true facts and doesn't give a negative opinion on something or doesn't agree with you automatically makes those kinds of people apologists?! WRONG!!! It does not! Knock off the bullying and quit being jerks, people!

I am mildly excited about these bathrooms, as silly as it is. At least from the designs, it does look quite pretty. And I thought Tangled was a pretty darn gorgeous animated movie, especially the lanterns scene. Maybe someday we'll actually get an attraction based on it. I also have oddly fond/funny memories of the bathrooms at Disney solely because my father seemed determined to use every single one. Every time he saw a sign, he always had to go much to the annoyance of my brothers and I. Eventually he started saying he had to stop only because he knew it would annoy us! Haha. He always called them the "Secret Disney attractions." So I can only imagine his reaction with these fancy Tangled bathrroms.

I don't see anyway this is done in six weeks.

Well everything other than 7DMT is done, and it seems that it's still in the late basic stages of construction. What will all of the imagineers/finish work contractors be doing who just finished the majority of new fantasyland? Waiting and sitting on their hands while all the tracks are installed and show buildings constructed at the 7DMT so they can start working there? I say they'll descend on the next section that is ready for them and the way things are looking that section is the Tangled Bathrooms.

Sure it's wishful thinking because that's when I'll be there and I need my daughter to see the themed area... ..but it raises a point right?

Doesn't anyone find it funny that they haven't even announced anything officially about this area? It wouldn't surprise me at all to see this open by the preview dates, or the date I mentioned, but it would surprise me if it weren't completed by the grand opening on 12/6.

Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy contradicting some posters who may or may not think they're truly in the know, and I did find it hilarious when these folks told people who came to these boards hoping for info on soft openings of the FLE that there definitely won't be any, the day before dress rehearsals began... hahaha..

Well, not a ride, but the rumor is that a Tangled themed musical is coming to DHS replacing BatB. So, there's that in terms of an attraction.

I'm going tomorrow, any chance of a soft opening?

Nice ;)

When is the live chat on Disney Park blog with Chris Beatty from the Tangled throne? Or Inside the Magic videos from inside the bathroom? Or countless tweets of pics of Tangled terlits?

Personally I can not wait to take a seat on the incredibly well detailed Tangled throne.

What makes you an apologist is that you've fabricated a web of lies in your crusade to mindlessly and desperately defend the people responsible for the condition WDW is in today. Again oddly insecure. And you've gotten yourself hopelessly tangled in this lie with no way of escape.

You claim that WDI are the ones responsible for setting attraction budgets and overseeing park maintenance. That is a complete and utter lie. All of the budgeting and maintenance decisions are approved by the more powerful corporate heads, including both TDO and their superiors. The buck stops at the top (and passes through TDO's level for approval in regards to WDW), WDI don't control the flow of money at the Disney corporation. WDI is the Imagineering department, they are responsible for designing attractions within a budget imposed on them by corporate leaders. Their corporate superiors at both the California headquarters as well as Team Disney Orlando hold all their strings though. The puppeteers have the power to approve or decline the attractions designed as well as decide on a budget. WDI doesn't set budgets or look after the theme park management. It is a complete lie to say that WDI are the ones responsible. That is a fact.

If WDI were the ones running the show budget wise and in terms of park maintenance, every Disney park on the face of the planet would be in absolute pristine condition and filled with a constant stream of new and fresh attractions. The imagineers wouldn't allow the creativity stifling and money-grubbing nonsense that TDO and higher levels allows on both a creativity level and maintenance level. WDI are filled with some of the few remaining people within the Disney company who actually still respect and cherish the legacy that Walt Disney himself created. Few (if any) people with true power in the Disney corporation actually respect Walt's ideals and what the parks are about. The present form of WDW stinks of their budget cutting handiwork. That is truth.
