Push replaced an earlier Robot in 1996, he premiered during the 25th Anniversary Celebration... he was part of the "new" Tomorrowland redo.

I saw Push on the bridge going into tomorrowland and I went up to him and said "Hello Push" - and he stopped and talked to me. I asked if I could take my picture with him, and he said he would back up so we could get the castle in the background!

I'm 26, and obviously a dork, but this was really fun for me =)

We have had alot of fun with Push and Wes Palm They are great and funny:ROFLOL::ROFLOL:.However the best part for me is when they leave and my three year old (at the time the first time saw them) hey mom the can (tree) was talking to me. His face was priceless.. Thanks Disney. We also had alot of fun in DAK with the 2 talking plants and thier son. My kids got a kick out of them. They are so funny too

push also has a myspace page where you can check out some of his favorite videos of himself and be his friend... myspace.com/wdwpush :)

personally, my favorite thing is when he's chatting with some kids (school aged, on a school day), asks if they are supposed to be in school and when they say yes he turns around and yells "security!!! they're skipping school" and actually by that point everyones laughing, i dont remember what he says next lol.

its always fun times with push :)

I only saw Push once when I was little in Tomorrowland and that was it. I saw it rolling away in the crowd of people so I tried chasing after it but I lost it. I did run into another garbage can just sitting there idly but I could never be too sure if that was it. Every single year after that incident, I would always be on the look out for a talking rolling trash can. So far, I had no luck at all. Youtube is the closest I'll get to seeing him, Wes Palm, and Pipo.

Oh so thats what it is.. We were in MK 5/10 walking on the side of Monster Inc Laugh Factory building and this trash can starts chatting it up with my just turned 4yr old daughter she just stared at it and starts to laugh "Wok mommy thats just silly" Then it started telling her knock knock jokes then followed her around for a bit. Which made her laugh even more.

I just had to wake her up to tell her that the silly trash can had a name - Push. She was happy to talk about her robot trash can story again.

*bump*

Reading this thread reminded me of the few times we've run into PUSH...my now 8-year old still talks about how he and PUSH are friends...because we used to take him every year on his birthday (in July) and for 3 years in a row, we saw PUSH. My son is thrilled that PUSH can remember his birthday. (When actually, I walk over to near or next to the operator and then I'll talk to my son and say, 'Hey, Noah...tell PUSH that you wanted to see him today on your birthday'...so the operator would hear me....and then PUSH would 'magically' say to Noah..."HAPPY BIRTHDAY NOAH"...., etc.) Probably some of my son's strongest and best memories of WDW...

The talking trash can is not only in Tomorrowland, but also located toward the gates of Animal Kingdom. The last time I went to disney,(about two years ago) when I was leaving the park, I noticed there was a crowd surrounding a trash can. I thought it was pretty stupid, since it was just a trash can. Then I noticed it was talking. That was basically my first encounter with him.
Oh, and the talking palm tree, I believe his name is Coconut (correct my if I'm wrong), also goes to Animal Kingdom often. It's pretty weird seeing him walk around. He exits the park the same way a guest does, through the gates!
There are many different talking things in Disney, but my favorite is the talking fountain in Epcot. It doesn't move, but just talks. All of these fun little things were created to put a smile on the young childrens face. Where else can you find something that fun? That's the magic of disney

The palm tree's name is "Wes Palm".

And the trash can at Animal Kingdom is usually PUSH's cousin Pipa, the talking recycling bin. ("Pipa" is Swahili. Swahili doesn't have a word for "recycling bin", so he's named pipa which means trash can)

The guy we've seen at Planet Watch, and in Tomorrow Land, is usually wearing a ball cap, dark sunglasses, and sometimes a dark wig. The ball cap and sunglasses give him a lower profile and don't allow guests to know where the operator is focusing their attention. If you know what to look for, he or she is easy to pick out. Its fun to watch both Push and her operator, but I wonder if the operator isn't too close to Push or Wes Palm sometimes. Somehow the crowd is almost always oblivious.

Cool we were trying to figure out how the heck it was being controlled. I didnt know the operator would be so close! I should have just paid better attention and would have noticed I think

All one needs to do is stand back about 30 feet from Push, and so you are well outside the crowd circle, and it shouldn't be hard to identify the plain clothes CM operator.

I know some say that this would be bad show by Disney, but I just admire the performance that the two put on, and how it is pulled of each and every time Push or Wes Palm appear.

As I am sure all CM's would want, don't draw attention to the operator... keep it on the down low.
