Talk to me about Dole Whip....

My two cents:

I love the Pineapple Dole Whip. It's not thick like ice cream...it's more of a...sherbert or sorbet texture I think so it is very refreshing. However, like most things, you have to try it for yourself and make your own decisions.

I will give one tip though:

Go to the Polynesian and get it. The Aloha Isle is packed (PACKED I TELL YOU!!! ) and no dessert, dole whip or otherwise, is worth standing in that line to get. And if you do stand in line for 5 hours to get it, don't complain if it wasn't "worth the wait." lol You're better off taking a quick Monorail ride, getting the Dole Whip at Captain Cook's and sitting on the Poly beach for a moment to relax.

Anyway, I do think it's over hyped. I like the dessert but people do give it "Ambrosia Status." My cousin raves about it and wanted to get one the the Dole Whip shirts being sold at the Poly store and all that jazz and she doesn't even eat it. She eats the vanilla but not the pineapple, claiming it's too sweet, lol. So part of me things people hype it just to be part of the crowd. I love it because I love pineapple, but I am not going to say it's the best dessert ever. (That gets saved for the Moroccan baklava ;) )

I was so confused when I went. I walked up to the window and said "I want a dole whip." You need to know that this is not how you order!! This is what I ended up getting.. I don't even know what it was I was so embarassed/anxiety ridden that I just got the same thing as the person in front of me! But it was good!!

I enjoy the vanilla pineapple swirl. I love all things fruity flavored, especially in the heat. It's something sweet yet refreshing. DH isn't much a fan of pineapple so he doesn't care all too much for them. Normally we stop on Main Street for a few scoops of ice cream for him and then head over to Adventureland for a Dole Whip for me. I usually enjoy 2 - 3 each trip!

I don't know hopefully someone can answer for you.

I love hearing every ones thought on this LOL I still can't wait to try it. It looks delicious!

Yes, At the Polynesian ,the soft serve does count on the Dining Plan. However, I am not sure about the float at Aloha Isle.

At the Poly, you serve yourself. You pay for the item at the counter and they give you a cup. You then go to the machine and get what you want. The crazy thing is people go nuts. There was one woman last week who built that thing up to the ceiling. I swear! I wish I had a picture.

The float counts as a meal! :D

I can imagine people go a little insane with the self-serve! That must've looked pretty funny.

We need time for things to happen.
Lots of haters around here...;)
"It's not ice cream, it's meh...it's chemicals, it's over rated, it's this, it's that, I've had better at my local kiwi spoon, etc. etc."...all true I won't lie...BUT....

Here's the deal --Like a lot of things at WDW it's about the whole experience.

So you want to talk about a dole whip?

It's an average to pretty good tasting, uncommonly flavored (pineapple), soft serve ice creamy type concoction made delicious and legendary by the place in which it's associated with and enjoyed in:

Walt Disney World.

That's all there is to it.

It was pretty comical. I was in line to get one myself and she was in front of me. I took a double take and wondered if she was really going to eat all that or did she just do it because she could. Anyway, I looked at the girl working at the counter and laughed and said "I'm not going to make mine that big, I just want a little"

She laughed too and said she had seen worse. I can't imagine that.
