My two cents:
I love the Pineapple Dole Whip. It's not thick like ice cream...it's more of a...sherbert or sorbet texture I think so it is very refreshing. However, like most things, you have to try it for yourself and make your own decisions.
I will give one tip though:
Go to the Polynesian and get it. The Aloha Isle is packed (PACKED I TELL YOU!!! ) and no dessert, dole whip or otherwise, is worth standing in that line to get. And if you do stand in line for 5 hours to get it, don't complain if it wasn't "worth the wait." lol You're better off taking a quick Monorail ride, getting the Dole Whip at Captain Cook's and sitting on the Poly beach for a moment to relax.
Anyway, I do think it's over hyped. I like the dessert but people do give it "Ambrosia Status." My cousin raves about it and wanted to get one the the Dole Whip shirts being sold at the Poly store and all that jazz and she doesn't even eat it. She eats the vanilla but not the pineapple, claiming it's too sweet, lol. So part of me things people hype it just to be part of the crowd. I love it because I love pineapple, but I am not going to say it's the best dessert ever. (That gets saved for the Moroccan baklava )
