Taking a cruise alone...has anyone done it?

Hello everyone-

Was just curious. Has anyone ever gone on a cruise all by themselves? I'm seriously thinking about it and wondering how it was. Did you feel out of place. I travel for work so I'm not shy about eating by myself or anything like that. Just wondering how it was? Been a really rough year for me and I need to get the heck out of town. What better place to regroup than on a Disney cruise.

Thanks for your thoughts!!

Although lately I've sailed with a friend or relative, nearly half of my 18 past DCL cruises were solo. Loved it! I'll be cruising with a friend on the 1/25/14 Fantasy, but will be solo on the 11/8/14 Fantasy. BTW - They will assign you to a table number at dinner and unless you request otherwise, you'll be seated with other Guests. They try to match people of approximately the same ages and adults without kids if you are solo, but you can make a request if you have a specific preference. It is also often possible to get to know others pre-cruise via message boards, and perhaps link dining in order to sit with people you at least know from online.

I have never done it, but I would have had no problem doing so when I was single.

i do know that they have a single parents meet on the cruise. I don't know if they have singles events.

I have friends who have sailed alone and made new friends onboard. @Taswira is spot on with advice. They have single gatherings. Go to trivia events and join a team. By all means go.

Tammy, once again, you'd go on (just about) any cruise.
She needs a 12 step program for cruises.
Hi. My name is @Disneyfalcon and I'm a Disney cruise-aholic....

Gotta introduce yourself as your screen name for full effect. Yes?
You would never have to cruise alone as long as I'm alive. :)
I know. And I LOVE this with my whole heart!:inlove:
(Sitting in D-Lounge the crowd responds) Hi @Disneyfalcon !

Oh my word, I'm so glad I took a moment out of all the craziness of getting ready (ironically, for my next cruise) to open WDWMagic! Because ya'll just made me crack up!! Crack! Up!

I have done 2 DCL cruises alone and if you are comfortable travelling alone it is wonderful. DCL has done amazing jobs of table assignments seating me with other adults, so dinners were so much fun.

I never felt uncomfortable being alone on DCL, which I cannot say about a solo trip I did on RCCL, where I felt like everyone was a couple. I think there are so many multi generational families on DCL where kids do their thing and mom does her thing and so on, no one assumes you are alone.

I did a 7 day Med cruise alone. I did adult only excursions and they were all fantastic, I know lots of people say ship excursions are terrible , but that has not been my experience.

Travelling alone to me is such a luxury , but I must say my kids are never impressed when I go alone.
