We ate here on our last trip and loved it. I was feeling kind of ill because I got stupid and ordered a Discovery Blast without having eaten at all that day. I'm hypoglycemic and was already kind of dizzy but I thought that was because of the heat. LOL I drank that sugary sweet drink and almost vomited. BUT, the restaurant was awesome! LOL You son is going to flat out LOVE the meteor shower. It is a sensory overload for kids. Try to sit in the "Ice Room" During the meteor shower it changes from blue to red. ;)

Isn't TRex owned by the same company at Rain Forest? Just wondering as I thought I saw that somewhere...I found the food/menu choices to be similar to Rain Forest but better tasting. I totally loved the decor, the meteor shower, the theming...take a camera. Awesome. Your 5 year old will love it. I took my 7 year old grandson and he still talks about it.

Yes. Landry Restaurants. :) I never understood why they put two in the same location. But I have seen a Starbucks across the street from a Starbucks.

for a five year old boy probably the best restaurant in WDW. meteor showers, roaring/moving dinosaurs, ice cave, fires, noisy, loud, active. what more could a little boy want?
my 2 year old grandson spent 30 minutes just walking around the place telling me the name of each type of dinosaur, and waiting for it to start moving. he was in his glory. do you know a little boy who isn't in love with dinosaurs?
the food is good, that's all i'll give it. it certainly is an enjoyable meal, don't get me wrong, but it's no California Grill/Artist Point/Citricos. hearty endorsement here with the kid, for all adult party, not so much.

I went to a T-Rex in Kansas, but i haven't been to the one at DTD. My cousin went there and he said he didn't really care for it. He said that it was just a loud experience, but your kid would probably like it. He said he'll stick with Rainforest Cafe.

I took my 4 year old grandson 2 weeks ago and really liked it. I have to say I was surprised the food was pretty good and plentiful. Only issue we had was the loudness of the meteor shower. Would definitely go again.

we do it every trip! we have taken our in-laws and parents there. took our kids for the first time at 6 and 4. it can get a little loud for them , but they wanted to go back. haven't missed it on any trip since. i'm thinking we ate there 5 or 6 times in the past 2 years. food isn't anything that stands out, but we never left disappointed either. the meteor impact is great! ask to sit in the ice room.

They both make tons of money. Rainforest was never able to handle that capacity so T-Rex helps to capture some of that lost business.

Our kids like both places and have been to both quite a few times, but understand they eat pretty much the same thing at each. I do like some of the meals at RFC, but I think the T-rex has the upper hand in quality of food served.

I like Rainforest better, but I do like both places. T-Rex doesn't have as much on the menu that I eat, but the experience is fun. DH prefers T-Rex. With a little boy, you will have a great time! The whole experience of dinosaurs & meteor showers should be perfect. There's a fun area where he can play in the sand & find "bones" and "fossils". Kids always seem to be having fun in there. There's a "Build a Dinosaur" area in the gift shop too, like Build a Bear, but with Dino's.
