Wow!

I don't know how well I will enjoy this addition, but Landry's is a fine company.

The photos I have seen lead me to believe that this is a far more effective concept at night. Under daylight the illusion is too fake for me.

Also, the placement confuses me a bit.

But I wouldn't hold any of this against it until I visit and experience the atmosphere/food. I'm looking forward to my first visit in Feb!

Thanks for the photo update!

basically, it's about as 'real' as rainforest.. it looks nice though, hopefully the food faire is good ... Rain forest pulled a few menu items recently because of supply costs, rendering some of their best dishes (IMO) off the menu..

this effects landrys restaurants nationally actually (the supply change)

I am NOT looking forward to going to T-Rex's this December, I think Landry's is an awful company, their food sux in my opinion, but my son is a Dino freak, so I will suck it up, put on a smile and really become an actress and pretend its the best thing since sliced bread.....Im not looking forward to it tho. :brick:

Have you tried other Landry's restaurants besides Rainforest and the other ones in Disney? Some of them are pretty good.

Agreed. I've eaten at Landry's Rainforest Cafe here in Towson, MD three times in 8 years, and I swear the food is tasteless. I'm reminded of Captain Barbossa's (from POTC) line about food turning to ash in his mouth.

*Not* worth the atmosphere...

I called Disney Dining Wednesday to try to get one last ADR (didn't get it). I asked the lady on the phone when T-Rex is going to open, she confirmed the October 14th date.

As I posted in another related thread a while ago.... We go to RF or will go to Trex for the atmosphere and more imprtantly for the kids. Sure the food isn't 5 star quality but if you are expecting that then it is your own foolishness. The food is better then some other WDW restaurants at which we have eaten. Sci-fi comes immediately to mind.... an dthere the atmsphere was not great either ... of course IMO.

I know I wont be visiting this place in October, my kids (5,2) would have nightmares for weeks. Took them to Rainforest a few months back and they were terrified. Barely could get through our meal, every time the animals started to move they freaked out. I am sure the older kids will like it though. I Agree the food at Rainforest stinks. Hopefully this one is a little better. More restaurants are needed at the marketplace so I think overall its a good thing. No matter what, it will be neat to look at while walking around the marketplace.

I think it will look alot better once the plant life along the sides of the building grows a little, that way it will cover the green parts of the facade. Can't wait to try it in December!

Reservations...

OK... I give... how do you make a ressie for this place?

It's like trying to find bigfoot...er... yeti...err..

Dis isn't taking ressies for this and the trex cafe website is just plain awful...

Am I to assume that they won't take reservations any earlier than that day?

Anyone...anyone...?

They apparently won't be taking reservations until next year. Here's an email that's been received by people making inquiries:

Thank you for your inquiry into the new T-REX Orlando! Currently, our restaurant is scheduled to open in mid October of 2008 and we will be on a walk-in basis only until 2009. You may check our website at anytime for updates on our opening or call 407-828-TREX (reservations are not being taken). We will be accepting the Premium, Platinum and Wine and Dine Disney Dining Programs. For allergies, please make sure to let your guide know and a chef will come out to your table to discuss options. Once the restaurant is open, you can also call the restaurant to talk with someone.

If you are in the Disney area and are looking for a WILD time, don’t forget to call one of our Rainforest Café properties for a priority seating. We have one located at the entrance to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park which you can reach at 407-938-9100 and one at Downtown Disney Marketplace (a block away from our new T-Rex site) which can be reached at 407-827-8500. Thank you again for your e-mail and we look forward to your visit!

I'll never see this building in person unless something drastically changes between now and tomorrow night.

As of 2:00 am Sunday morning, my Downtown Disney Boycott is in full effect.
