Switching resorts during trip help

We are going to WDW from 12-21 OCT12. We are staying at BVC from 12th-18th, then we are switching to BLT for the last three nights. My question is- how to get our luggage from BCV to BLT on the 18th. Our problem is that we are planning going to early entry at MK on the 18th, and then hopefully staying for MNSSHP that same night (MK closes at 7pm). As always, thanks in advance.

This is quick and painless. We have done it several times over the years. Believe Disney is very acquainted in handling this request.

Early morning, get bell services to come and get your bags. Tell them over the phone that it is a transfer to another resort. When they come upstairs, they will have a ticket to give you. Each piece of luggage will get the same number. Follow downstairs and reiterate that this is a transfer to another resort. After acknowledgement, give tip (usually $1 per bag). You will not see your luggage until later that day at your new resort. They have even transferred refrigerated products for us.

Check out of first resort and head to park. Take a carry-on or backpack to park with all essentials including medications. I would prefer that you lock your suitcases too.

Later in day, take break around 4pm and head over to Contemporary to check in for BLT. Talk to bell services first about transferred luggage. Then head over to check in. If room is ready, go back and inform bell services of room number. Here you have two options: If luggage is there, have them bring up to room while you are there. If luggage is not there, talk to supervisor and ask for them to check into this as you are heading back to the MK for the MNSSHP.

We have never had a problem. Luggage was always delivered before we checked into the new resort.
Good luck and enjoy your trip.

I have never split resorts before. It sounds like luggage is a breeze to handle but can anyone speak to how the tickets and dining plan is effected? We would not get annual passes, rather park tickets and the dining plan so how is the handled if you split resorts?
Thanks!

If you have park tickets on your first room key, the Lobby Concierge of the second hotel *should* be able to move the tickets over for you. Or, you can just carry around both cards, using the new ones for room access and room charges, and the old one for park tickets.

But the Dining Plan cannot be moved or continued from one reservation to the next. If you want the Dining Plan at both hotels, you'll have to book package reservations at both hotels. And unless you have Annual Passes, both of those package reservations will require you to buy park tickets.

If you have an offer that includes Dining and it's your best financial option, one option you could do is to book the first hotel with tickets to cover your entire trip. Then on the second reservation, only book the bare-minimum tickets to satisfy the ticket requirement. You can then use the tickets on the first room keys all trip (you won't be able to move them over), and save the tickets on the second keys for use on a future trip. (because you'll never use them, they clock won't start ticking and they won't expire)

We have changed resorts on almost all of our trips. We have stayed in as many as three different resorts on one extended trip two summers ago. We started at the Beach Club, did Contemporary, then to Boardwalk. Each switch was a breeze. Bell services took care of everything, even what needed to be refrigerated! You have to be in your room for them to take your stuff, and in your new resort room before they will drop it off. (Its not like the magical express when they just drop it in your room for you). Its very easy to do. We are doing it again this summer (Riverside Princess rooms to AKL). Its a great way to see so many of the great resorts Disney has!
The only time we had an issue was switching from The Swan to WL. Our stuff was moved by the Swan staff to AKL. It took over 2 hours to find our stuff and the staff at WL, NOT Swan, did all the work to locate it and get it. They even drove us in one of their vehicles to the entrance of Epcot because we were running late for our diner reservation. The Swan did comp. us for 2 hours at the kids club in WL (don't recall the name) so my wife an I could sort it all out. But only after the WL staff suggested it so the kids didn't have to sit in the lobby the entire time.
Other than that, the its been a breeze. Have fun!!

AHH finally someone with feedback (and positive ) about switching not once or twice but three times!
We're surprising our girls and doing this in August.. First stop AKV, for 2 nites (my youngest wants to see animals when she looks out of the Balcony, my oldest BLT another 2 nites to be able to ride the monorail and see be that close to MK and us SSR for 5 nites, because we do love it there!! So anxious and excited because they have no clue , they just think we're staying at SSR which we all love, but its definatly a great way to try different resorts ( and I'm so excited as well to try some new places)!!! And from what i read from just swtching during stay for two resorts is pretty easy. But its nice to read about three resorts switching...We've been calling it our TRIPLE PLAY STAY!! Well the hubby and I are , the kids the're just excited to be going back!! Now to keep quiet!

Oh and thank God for DVC!!!

You have to have two reservations when you are including the dining. I went through this last year when we did our land and sea trip. We started at POP, then went to the Dream, then went to WL. As for the bags... Pop sent over one of our bags to be held at WL until we got back from the dream so we only had to take one bag. it was great. But in order to add dining you have to have the resort stay and the park tickets. The only way to do that is to make two reservation and split your # of days. I ended up doing the dining and all the tickets on the Pop century part of the trip and paid out of pocket for the meals with the overnight at WL.
