Surprise reshuffle of Vice Presidents at the Walt Disney World parks on the horizon?

Meh......nothing new or exciting. Cockrell is a good solider......we have the same mind set we have had for the last decade or so. Holmes is clock watching waiting for the time he can cash in. Cockrell is a up and coming star?.....says TDO. Cockrell is setting him self up nicely for Georges job......count me as one as being underwhelmed.

Yep have to say I agree with that, well said, just more of the same lacking the needed long overdue management change. Not impressed that holmes is sticking around only to be moved to do who knows what budget slashing/cutting at the studios in general. (not referring to the new attractions coming per say, but just in general overall operations.)

Pretty sure Holmes doesn't need to wait to cash in...

You doubt Steve? He doesn't often post information that is not strongly corroborated. That's why everyone comes here for WDW news over any other site.

Spot on the content on WDW is top shelf compared to (pick your favorite rumor mill) sure you need to actually read the forum because Steve won't put it on blast until it's pretty good odds.

I'm like most other posters, not in the know or anything remotely close, but look at all the threads about Disney sitting back and not doing anything. Now names are being moved, projects (possible and confirmed) and budgets are starting to materialize and it seems that people aren't accepting of it. I can accept it if the names being moved aren't the ones you want moving in whatever direction, but hey, if they're gonna do something other than take away benches, renovate the hub, etc, are we really going to complain about it?

DHS and EPCOT need the most work. AK is getting their night show, and who knows what's in store for the MK. Will Frontierland expand? Who knows, but apparently the money is there for something to happen.

So, basically, to everyone who wants to complain that Disney isn't doing anything to keep up with the other Orlando parks, don't complain about the scrims and dust while the Imagineers are working on improving WDW.

As WDW1974 always says, nothing to see. Just more rearranging the deck chairs and not actually changing anything. Nothing to see if it really happens as usual i'm sure.

Actually, this is a bit more. And I have had a few folks tell me that @wdwmagic has the right story here.

As I've said here for years now, Danny Cockerell is being groomed as the future all-American whitebread leader of WDW. I wonder if it was part of his Daddy Lee's retirement package. In order for Dan to get the top spot, which is really the top retail job in all of P&R, he needed to run MK first and it was obvious that Phil Holmes wanted to stay working at WDW until the only thing left of him was that bright smile.

So, it would seem (because further moves look imminent) Phil was allowed to keep the exec salary if he swapped spots with Danny. It's really the closest thing to retirement because what exactly exists at the corpse of TPFKaTD-MGMS today anyway?

The BIG question is whether George Kalogridis gets one final three-year deal as WDW Prez next year at age 62 before Danny takes his place.

BTW, as a friend pointed out, this move was partially telegraphed when no one was named MK GM to replaced Melissa when she moved over to become EPCOT's VP of the Moment.

I would say it's the most significant leadership move in the last 10 years at least.

Really? I'm curious as to why you feel that way ...

I think Meg Crofton replacing Al Weiss when she was virtually unknown in the company, and never had any real operations experience, was awful big. And then having George, openly gay George, take over for her when a large segment of WDW's bread and butter guest is so conservative they don't think Donald Trump has said anything wrong of late was certainly big and bold.

Given how often they shuffle around jobs, WDW VP's can't actually do much. You'd think with entities as large as the parks it would take years to get to know every little detail, immerse yourself in the different cultures of the different parks and really run a tight ship. If they can be swapped in and out so easily, they really must have only the most casual overview of things.

I'd bet the majority of WDW guests, conservative or not, have no idea who George Kalogridis is, much less his sexual preference.
