Has anyone been walking the parks and seen someone eating and spiting sunflower seeds?

I remember back 2 years ago seeing this and thought that it was kinda wrong. Not on a nasty level since it IS the ground, not like your going to get it all over your hands. but more that the CM's have to sweep those up.

I sort of think this falls in the line of : things that others do on their vacation that I let bother me. No matter how much we want to, we cannot control other people. Personally, I find this pretty rude, but I wouldn't let it bother me enough to remember it two years later.

Unless I'm on a baseball field, I don't see too many people eating sunflower seeds, let alone in WDW. To answer your question, no.

I used to eat sunflower seeds and spitting the shells at WDW or any public place is not appropriate. There is no reason in the world why you can't get a cup and spit the shells into that instead of the ground. I say it's tacky and disrespectful.

Totally agreed. As a huge sunfloweer seed fan, I would NEVER do this. Now, a little bit of this is because I actually eat the whole thing, shell and all, but if I didn't I would use a cup or baggie or even my pocket if I had to. I try not to leave my trash for other people, even if it their job to clean it up.

As long as they are not spit on me, I wouldn't care. It would be thoughtful if someone carried around a cup and spit the seeds into that, but if they didn't, I wouldn't think it was disgusting or rude. Just me, though.

It must have been me. I eat and spit seeds almost all the time. However, I will not do it inside of a building or attraction at WDW, but outside, yes. Maybe they'll create me a sunflower seed spitting section. :king:

While I agree that it is pretty disgusting, I don't let it bother me. Everyone does disgusting things at some point. However, my school doesn't allow them at all. Students have been put in OCS (on campus suspension) for having them. I thought this was a bit harsh, so I asked why. Seems that before I began teaching here, they had a huge problem with students spitting them EVERYWHERE....even in the classrooms. So, I guess we are not the only ones who think it is disgusting.

I guess there is a form of "etiquette" to spitting seeds. Inside a building, a room, etc. should be no spitting or you use a cup. Sporting event or outside? Spit away, as long as you don't hit the person in front or beside you (like I did at the Tampa-Cleveland baseball game Saturday night :o ).

Not near as bad as the previously mentioned chewing tobacco or the biggie...GUM. Sunflower seeds are easy to pick up, the other two, particularly gum are not, and are far more common.

Sunflower seed shells don't bother me at all, I pick up after the birds in the backyard all the time. :o

Now what if it was out in a park (not a theme park, but a park park) someone out for a nice walk, and spitting shells to the grass?

LOL, On that note I'd like to say that schools like to make stupid rules to feed their power trips. Back a few years ago (1998) Yo-Yo's were coming back and our school had a rule, no yo-yo's at school, couldn't even have them in your car if you drove to school. To me that's a power trip. Oddly enough we were allowed to have hacky sacks.

Here at home I spit the shells into a cup. When the cup is full I either dump them into our hamsters cage and let her use them for bedding. or I dump them outside for the birds to use.

To me it doesn't matter - a park is a public place and I think spitting the shells out is disrespectful to others. Many families use parks for picnics, kids roll around on the ground etc... I know animals use the ground for a bathroom and blah blah... But people should be more courteous and just dispose of the shells properly.

I used to smoke, then went to chew, then to sunflower seeds, now I don;t do any of them. However, while usign these products I just about never spit onto the ground, just threw a butt away etc... I think seeds, chew, or shells laying on the ground is annoying and it takes a heck of a lot more time for someone else to clean these up after they are on the ground than it does for the person using them to just be respectful of others.
