Summer Plans

I'm a bit bored right now so I thought it would be fun to open a thread about any fun plans/trips/events on tap for the summer. Chances are someone else on these boards will have visited a place another member is going and can offer up tips or suggestions. Plus it's just fun

I don't usually travel except for work, but grad school made me nuts this year so I just got back from Montana/Wyoming (highly recommend going there!!) and will be heading to Australia in a month. (Like I said, I lost my mind.) I'm also excited about working to promote a Plain White T's concert in my town later this month; kind of dorky I know, but I love that stuff.

What's everyone else up to?

DISNEY.

That is all.

In actuality, looking at a August window, but everything is tentative...:D:o:o

You don't really need more than that to have a good summer :)

... and by you, I mean general you. Not you specifically, although that's probably true too given what forum we're on

This is a fun summer for me :D

I just got back from 2 weeks in Central America (Guatemala and Panama), and am headed in July to Virgin Gorda, BVI for a week, and to New York some time in July or August for a weekend.

Disney parks have become a fall/winter destination for me.

Us too, we usually go to Disney in the fall or winter.

But this summer we are spending three days in Cleveland, Ohio for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in July.

Anyone been before? Is it real crowded? Are there any other "Rock and Roll" destinations around there? I seem to remember reading about some famous record stores.

I've been to Cleveland a couple times (did some internships in Cincinnati and road tripped) It was June when I went to the Hall of Fame and since it was a weekend, it was relatively crowded. However, relatively crowded there is nothing like crowds at WDW so it wasn't bad at all. If you go on a weekday it's probably better but like I said, it was fine. I'm not sure about record stores around (there's a Hard Rock Cafe if you're interested in that), but we toured the WWII sub that's there, which was pretty cool. There's also a science museum (I think that's what it was) right by the Hall of Fame.

Like lots of other folks, we're doing more long weekends this year due to money considerations. ( I actually got a real paycheck this week, first one since last October!). In the planning stages, we're looking at 2 or 3 days in Washington DC, a couple of day trips to Six Flags New England, and maybe a weekend on the Maine coast.

:sohappy: for the paycheck! Congrats! I actually love long weekends for trips; they're kind of the perfect length IMO. I've been to DC a couple times, both for work and I've never done the actual sites there  You'll have to let me know how it goes haha. Also, my dad vacationed on the Maine coast one summer and said it was his absolute favorite place to go...you'll have a ton of beautiful pictures from there! Have fun planning

Well we are saving up for DW in October so alot of our time will be spent at my parents (they have retired to a lake) and my mother in laws pool. During the week it is just work. Kinda borring but not alot of money this year, but I am enjoying spending time with my family. Everyone have a great and safe summer.

We're going to Center Parcs (any one over here knows them). They are activity holiday parks set in forests - no cars allowed on site and I've not ridden a bike for about 15 years so it should be something to see!! Apart from that, planning (and paying !) for WDW in Sept.

I don't think you've lost your mind - international travel never means you've gone crazy! It just means you have awesome taste.

As for me? In about a week I'll be heading to New York (and New York City) for a few days. July holds my first trip to Baltimore, Maryland to go to Otakon for the weekend - and seeing VAMPS live in concert!! One of only ten concerts in the US.

August is still really up for grabs at the moment, haha.

I'm going to this AWSOME arts camp called USDAN for 4 weeks (my first time, wanna see how it goes). I'm doing Chorus and Art. I'm also doing a summer show run by town. It's usually really good. Finally, I'm planning on going on a couple of "stay-cations" to waterparks, Six Flags Great Adventure, etc. So yeah, sounds fun! Unfortunately, the Glow in the Park parade followed by fireworks at SFGA is the closest I'll get to Disney this year. BUt trust me, I'm not complaining!

.

I totally agre that international travel is awesome, it's just kind of expensive and I probably have more responsible things I could spend that money on but I needed to go to a far away fun place :-) I went 7 years ago and am so excited to go back and explore some new parts!

That's right! Add THIS to the list and I'm seriously jealous.
 :brick:

Of course!!! We're actually going to try to see all of the musical performances as long as we can get in! The last con I went to had Freezepop and Otakage, and I'm really disappointed we didn't get to see either. That is NOT happening again!

I'm more excited about the VAMPS pre-concert show, though. I <3 L'arc-en-ciel, so seeing Hyde live is going to be amazing. If you haven't heard them...definitely recommend giving them a listen on youtube. Evanescent is a great song to search.

I have one more summer class to take (my first one ended on June 4th), then I am all done with school forever!! Then I go down to FL to start my CP on Aug 10!! :sohappy::sohappy:

While I'm waiting to go to FL, I will be working at my dad's job. And I hope to see the 3 Disney shows on Broadway (especially the Lion King).

Congrats!! Being done with school is an awesome feeling! I'm getting a season pass this fall so I'll probably see you down there while you're on your CP

And I'm very jealous about the Broadway shows. I've never been but really want to...let me know which one is your favorite :)
