Summer Nightastic over, TOT back to normal?

Just wondering if we can get any confirmation on whether the ride has been put back to its pre Summer Nightastic self?

What were the differences put in for the summer?

Biggest things: new drop profile, star curtains and a new projection/picture effect in the 5th dimension scene, new lighting and sound effects in the boiler room, new sound/music just before the elevator drop, and new green lights in the drop shafts to give the Tower a "glow in the dark" look.

Personally, I kinda hope they keep the new boiler room effects and the green glow lights in the shaft. It also would be cool if they kept the new drop profile as an option for the random drops. However, the 5th dimension room effects need to go.

I rather keep the Nightastic effects they were better IMO. Bigger and longer drops compared to an open 5th dimension room I'll take the bigger drops.

Why can't they bring back the old stuff but also keep the picture taking thing. That effects is really great.

I don't see why it has to be a choice between those aspects.

They could switch the 5th dimension room back to normal, but also incorporate the new drop profile along with the other four so you don't know what you'll get. If it stays the way it is, all of the surprise will be gone for people who go on it more than once or twice.

It was like that for a while before the random came in and no one had a problem with it. Rnrc is the same, so is everest, and a lot of other rides.

Errr those aren't related?

You can have the new drop profile without the perversion of the 5th dimension scene. Plus those rides will be always forced to be the same, you can change parts of ToT, so why not change them or use the programmable nature to create a unique experience?

Exactly. There's no reason why the Nightastic drop profile can't be added to the other profile list. It really shouldn't be an either/or situation; hopefully TDO realizes that. And even if it was, I'd rather have the 5th dimension sequence back rather than only keeping the new drop profile. The 5th dimension sequence is unique to the Orlando ToT - why cover it up like its not even there? And don't we have enough cheap looking star cutains in attractions anyway? (a certain Epcot ride comes to mind :lookaroun)

I can see the problem in that the additional profile might be longer, making it not mathematically possible to add it to the random profiles, but still, even if it was just the ONE profile they can bring back the old 5th dimension...

The Nightastic profile will remain until Tuesday morning, simply because of park closing schedules.

I know that's how it started. But after years of upgrades and promotions (Fear every drop, never the same fear twice, etc.) it would be a shame to revert back to that. Even if the new drop profile is 'better' than the four previous ones (I didn't notice a huge difference, besides the first drop), I'd rather keep the suspense where you don't know what will happen until the drop sequence begins.

Yeah while the whole different Summer Nighttastic stuff was okay, I really prefer the old TOT. At least the 5th Dimension room. The 'starfield' was so lame, and the pic of the elevator car really looked cheap. Not a BAD addition if done right, but what my experiences on it were less than amazing. I did like the drop sequence though. Nice addition!

I would love if they kept the Summer Nightastic fireworks. I love the perimeter fireworks and the castle part with the pirates.

While it was amazing and great for guests... It was torture for anyone who needed to use the perimeter road for any reason as it had to close a while before the fireworks... That and it makes it more magical when they do use those for the seasonal shows.

I haven't seen it in person, but I've seen videos of the new star field and vanishing elevator effects, and here's my take on what should be done about TOT Nighttastic edition:

-Green lighting - It's alright, I guess I wouldn't mind it staying.
-Star field - Bring back the fifth dimension. It's one of the coolest parts of the ride and exclusive to WDW, so it would be a shame to see it go.
-Disappearing effect - This effect is alright, I wouldn't mind it staying. If they used a live video rather than a still image, like DCA/WDS do, I'd be all for it.
-Drop profile - Keep it in addition to the old ones. More drop profiles means more suspense.
-Piano before the drop - It's kinda creepy, and therefore, I'd keep it playing before every drop sequence. It adds to the suspense.
-Rod Serling's narration at the top - Bring it back.

Next time (assuming they do this again), I don't think they should pull the other drop sequences. The best part about ToT is that you don't know what the ride is going to be like. I wouldn't mind a fifth dimension overlay if it didn't look so cheap. An even better alternative to ToT's Nighttastic overlay would be a disco theme on Expedition Everest. It would only be a few hours, they would just have to put in some new speakers to add music. ;)

Hope the 5th dimension returns when we are there this weekend. Went out there on Friday for the passholder event and had a great time! Rode ToT 13 times on Friday the 13th in 2.5 hours (that really takes a toll on you btw!) and had a great time! But having the same drop profile over and over does get alittle old after awhile.

If they can get the picture effect on the right tower to be as sharp as the one on the left, then I wouldn't mind them keeping it, but there is a HUGE difference in picture quality between the 2 shafts. You pretty much can't see past the first row on the right side.

I also agree that boiler room effects should remain, piano music entering the shaft should remain, and green glow in the shafts should remain.

They should also find a way to make that vantriliquist dummy move every once in awhile...that would creep me out to no end!
