I know i couldn't do it, but there are people who do it successfully. It takes a lot of work, and kids who are willing to do it. My niece always resented my sister for not sending her to school, and it has lead to a lot of serious issues with her. It's hard to send the off, I know, but in her case, she really would have been so much better off if she did.Even if I was a teacher, I think I'd still send my kids to school. Interacting with your peers is a huge part of growing up...
It's just not for me, I guess.

We have friends who home-school their 3 daughters, and are doing it quite sucessfully. She is a trained teacher too, which helps a lot, and they are also very involved with a group of home-schoolers. The kids swim competitively for the Y and are quite involved with Girl Scouts as well as church activities, so they are learning social skills too. If done right it can work very well, but too many parents don't know what they're doing *coughmysistercough and coughmypastorcough*

Oooooo fun! What will you be doing there?
Oooo, that sounds like fun Jo!!!Umm, define "packed".:lookaroun

I agree - it takes a certain kind of family to have this kind of dedication. I truly respect those that do it well.
It's a common concern, I guess - but if the children have the networking I or Betty have mentioned, that issue can be resolved. I know personally it isn't for me.
Besides - what would we parents have to look forward too if we homeschooled? :lol:I agree - it takes a certain kind of family to have this kind of dedication. I truly respect those that do it well.

I don't think I will be doing the rides. I just want to see the characters, parade, fireworks, and dance parties. I'm glad my dad gave in and decided to go (we orginally were not going to go to the party, and leave for home instead).
Ooh! P&P sounds like fun! I still want to see Cap'n Jack...![]()
Oooo, that sounds like fun Jo!!!
Is the wait for Cap'n Jack still 4 hours long? :lookaroun
That's the ONE thing I wanted to do on our last trip... but wasn't going to spend all evening in line.![]()
If it were up to me, our kids would have no social network... I'm just too shy and not-social. I would depend on school to give them those ties.
Besides - what would we parents have to look forward too if we homeschooled?
Hi all...Thanks for asking about Maggie and thanks for all the thoughts..
She is good..she needs to wear a brace on her left foot while she is sleeping only...they also want to send her to a Genetics Dr. so we can maybe get an idea of why she is so short..She is 30 inches and 26 lbs..she is geat weight wise but is off the charts in height..she should be between 32-34 inches they say.
They say even though she was so premature and only 10 inches should not matter now because of her age and her weight..so we shall see.
They said that they may want to try growth hormones which I will not do and it is my choice or she may just end up being petite...I really do not care whether she is small or not as long as she is great healtwise then I am fine..
So all in all everything was great..we were just there FOREVER..x-ray after x-ray,and then a bone scan..so one tired lil girl..
Thanks again for thinking of us..
So, in short, I hate our computer system.
All of it, not just the internet. Something always seems to want to go wrong, and once one thing does, others follow. Somewhat of a perverted game of follow-the-leader, so to speak. Yet I find that I am digressing. It is likely I was dissapear for a time. Who knows how long.
Oh, and I hate tech support.
Meh....think I'm coughing up a lung at the moment. *grabs another kleenex*
Throat still hurts and I'm pretty congested this morning. :brick:
*goes to the sick side of the room w/ Jenny*
*takes a tissue*

Oh dear. :lookaroun
I want to see the pirate tutorial, but meeting Cap'n Jack isn't a big priority for us. We have at least three character breakfasts this fall, so that will take care of most of our meet-n-greets.
Oh, did I mention we FINALLY have decided on Halloween costumes. Mercy, this has been debated all summer 'round here.Abby is dressing as Elizabeth from POTC, in her geisha costume from the third film. Joel will (hopefully) be going as Peter Pan. And Mike and I are going as Florida tourists. :animwink:
Morning Dot! How's freedom feel?![]()
Those costumes sound wonderful! I wish I could get Marc to dress up... he's a party pooper!![]()
