Well, in our case, this isn't about building new buildings, just about keeping from going into the hole next school year. So, $70,000 of cuts will go into effect this school year, and next year....more staff cuts and potentially closing one of the elementary schools. People think by voting no, that will force the state to correct the school funding issue. Problem is, if what they are working on does correct things, it wouldn't go into effect until 2011. Four years of cuts, and that's assuming what they're doing in Columbus will be effective.
School districts have no choice right now, they haven't been given one by the state. It's a rock-and-a-hard-place situation.

I agree cuts are not good for schools. We haven't had to cut in a very long time. The school enlargements were made about 3 ot 4 yrs ago. We haven't had a school bond issue since then. So this yr might be the yr for that.:zipit:

So, I JUST got to work (s'posed to be here @ 7:30)...and I left my apartment at 6am (that would be over an 1 1/2 hours ago). We got a major storm through this morning that completely flooded the area. When I walked out the door @ 6am, it was lightening and torrentially downpouring. I knew the Tunnel would be flooded so there went the bus, and there was no WAY I was getting on the ferry in that weather. So I took the bus that picks up right in front of my apartment to get to the PATH station on the other end of Hoboken. From the door of the apt. to the street, I was drenched and had to walk through water up to my knees!!!!! (Don't want to think about what was in that water :hurl: ) Then my bus got stuck because there were cars stuck in the street. We went past some streets where the water was up past the hoods of the cars!!!! Made it to the PATH train and they weren't running any trains into Midtown because there was water in the tunnels. So I had to take it ALL the way down to World Trade Center to catch the subway. Annnnd, the subway was only running certain lines to certain stops because of water on their tracks as well. So, I FINALLY got off the train and then had to walk 7 blocks because all of the stations close to my office were shut down.
Oh, and I only slept under an hour and 1/2 last night. Could NOT fall asleep. Everytime I would fall asleep, my leg would start to hurt. And then I just couldn't fall asleep. I know I eventually did, but I also know that I saw 4:00...and I got up at 5:15. :brick: And my throat still hurts. AND I HAVE TO GO TO THE DENTIST TODAY GET MY PERMANENT CROWN ON!

Yay! I finally caught up!

If anyone is not busy, I am catering a dinner saturday and could use some help cooking. I am making Baked Ziti, salad, and an assortment of homemade desserts.

Baked Ziti is an italian baked pasta.

Wait...quick question...so you'll have to do a Custodial CP next time? How come? That seems messed up. They should let you choose again.

No. If I do another CP (a full one) I would only put down performer or attendant. I would have to apply again. And I would only put those because at that point I would have graduated.

So, funny story from the weekend :o :
On Saturday, something happened, I think Adam stepped on my foot accidentally or something. Something where I got hurt and said "ouch".
So Tegan says (in a completely somber voice, and straight face) "Nee Nee. It's not funny that you got hurt and I'm trying very hard not to laugh, but my body really wants me to." :ROFLOL:
She did it again yesterday when something happened to someone. I guess they're teaching them not to laugh when someone gets hurt. It was so sweet because she was dead serious and not even cracking a smile.

Awwwww, how cute!

Besides puppets singing Imagine, Yesterday, and that Felling Hot Hot Hot song? :lookaroun

Congratulations!
Have a brownie!

Hey they average out!

Marc was 2 weeks late... I'm hoping that it's not genetic! :lookaroun

Everyone in my family was on time for the most part (save a day or two) except for my brother. He was 2 weeks late (in the middle of August) and my mom ended up needing a C-Section.

I've got 4 and a half weeks - Exacly one month from today, as a matter of fact - September 7th.

Yay!!

Hello again - dishes are done....

Good thoughts for Maggie today...keep us posted, Dana!

Congrats and have fun today, Jo!

It is so miserable today - do not want to go to this meeting as it is at our park. I'd rather have AC.  But I leave in about an hour, so I thought I'd hang around here for a little bit.
