Sum of All Thrills

We tried it two weeks ago. DD and I created a tame ride with the bobsled. DS and DH created a jet plane ride that was as wild as possible without incorporating any inversions because DS was too short to be allowed to ride a course with inversions. I found that I really would have liked an extra minute or two in the course creation stage (or to at least to have been told how much time I had so we didn't run out so soon while we contemplated what to incorporate).

As for the simulator ride itself, I thought it was fun and pretty cool to have created it. It was definitely on the tame side which was fine by me. In fact, DH and DS said they didn't get much of a thrill either out of the jet plane ride, probably because they couldn't use inversions. I am a small person (5'1", 115 pounds), but I felt that the simulator itself was extremely tight, and frankly I would think that most men would find it uncomfortable in, uh, certain areas.

Overall it was a different and interesting experience, but if the wait was more than 20 minutes, I'd skip it. Whatever wait you have in the creation stage will be approximately repeated in the ride stage, so keep that in mind.

Jill,

thanks for the reply!

My kids and I did the rollercoaster simulator at Disney quest and we thought that was cool. I would like to try SOAT to see how they compare.

I was under the impression that it was pretty much the same thing?

This ride uses a robotic arm simulator which is apparently similar to the upcoming Harry potter ride.

One note in case it's of interest to anyone: You are required to place all bags and loose items into a locker right before you get into the simulator. You will get a key on a bracelet to wear on the ride. As I mentioned, the simulator itself is extremely tight, and there is no place to put a camera case or anything like that.
