Martin is always right......eventually.

Anyway, great news! Even the most blindly cynical can't fail to miss the meaning of all the construction walls at DAK and the removal of the backlot tour.

Plus Frozen at WS and likely expansion of Soarin' in FW. Pandora at DAK. The new hub. Disney Springs.....

....to be continued...

one would hope its great news but Frozen and Pandora....maybe not so great. Do you think Pandora Jewelry is sponsoring that too? Or only Wishes?

I've been lurking here for a while and have never posted, but I wanted to add my 2 cents on bringing Cars Land/RSR to WDW. I finally made the pilgrimage to DLR a few weeks ago, and RSR is much more similar to Test Track than I expected. The southwestern rock pattern backdrop works well at DCA because much of that region has similar geographical features. I don't know that the theming would have the same effect at DHS. It's almost as if the whole land was tailor made to be the flagship of a california themed park, and IMO, RSR is too close to Test Track to really excite the diehards waiting for something really exciting to hit WDW. Yes, the dark ride portion is really good, but for the extreme cost, I'd prefer a Monsters D ticket and a SW D ticket to one RSR (assuming that Star Wars also has its own E ticket coming)

Well here's the thing… We can't exactly sPoil elements of the new movie by creating themepark attractions based on them, now can we?

Sure you can.

The first movie and probably second will be out before the land even opens. So really, there's no spoilers.

And plenty of opportunity (synergy, ugh) to incorporate all New and old properties into one fantastic area. As long as they don't cheap out on it which they will inevitably do.

And I think if they're going to keep the stupid hat they need to make the entire park movie based. Star Wars land, Indy area, Pixar place, etc. go big or go home.

I don't want to be the guy tasked with going to JJ Abrams and telling him I need a detailed list of characters and a detailed plot for his new movie that I'm only going to share with a few hundred people at WDI who are helping me build a theme park land. Everyone here knows how well WDI and Disney P&R in general does at keeping secrets:confused: Abrams is a fanatic about releasing information about his movies exactly when he wants to. He would be beyond mad if a detailed plot for the movie was leaked here from sources inside The company. I'm not saying they have to incorporate stuff from the new movies into the land, but if they want to they will probably have to wait until late next year to begin.

Thanks for the update. It's hard to imagine them doing anything with HISTK and BLT while keeping LMA open. If they closed all 3 then they could section off that whole area of the park for construction.

The skeptical side of me thinks this could just be trimming operating costs. The optimist in me thinks this will not be something Star Wars related but rather some other additions that will provide capacity to the park once SW construction starts on the other side of the park. Star Tours is pretty far away from this area so it's less likely to be SW starting.
It will be part of the news Cars Land, similar to the one in California

Yeah that would not go over so well :)

But the beauty of a license like SW is they could create SW lands to whatever they wanted to and it would be easy to fit into the SW story line since it is so grand in scale. Heck I could come up with a storyline that "fit" with the SW universe, especially since the timeline is so flexible.

As a grandparent who visits often with my grandson, a Toy Story Land would be very welcome. Other than Disney Jr., and the Little Mermaid, not much available for a three year old.

I agree there isn't much in DHS for toddlers... even older children who aren't into thrills (ToT and RnR). Before my kids became school aged we hardly spent anytime in DHS. The park is not family-friendly at all! And if you travel with grandparents that also avoid thrills you'll left with very little for them to do as well. We even find it hard now to fill a day at DHS (unless there's special events, Frozen Summer Fun or Star Wars Weekends). I find shows don't have the "re-ride" ability that other attractions have. There's only so many times I can watch Indy, LMA, Beauty and the Beast, etc. There needs to be another family friendly ride that doesn't have a height restriction and a family coaster wouldn't go astray, something along the lines of the Monsters Inc. one I keep hearing so much about (depending on it's height requirement).

I think Disney should plan something that has to do with Guardians of the Galaxy, along with Star Wars. The movie was a huge success and is appealing to boys. If disney doesn't let up on all the frozen and princess stuff, they're going to alienate (;)) half their audience.

If they're going to do the movie concept, then they should own it, and soon, before all the boys jump ship.

But Mike... it HAS been sitting mostly empty, and mostly unused, for about three years :). Best to let it go, we'll see if WDW does anything but a parking lot based on PERFORMANCE, not promises.
Valid point. It was kinda bitter sweet to ride it remembering how it was in the "good old days".

I could actually see them leaving Catastrophe Canyon there to rot. It's so far in the back corner and they probably don't need all of the land. The rest of the space will be repurposed...eventually.

I get that BLT is not what it used to be but it still got people going in and riding the trams and seeing what little is left. Lost capacity is still lost capacity even if the ride sucked and it would be one more thing taken away from a park that is literally starving for more, not less.

Back in January I was biking the Orange Blossom Trail (?) and rode past a place called (I think) ABC bus and one of the trams was sitting in the lot, cars and all.
