Shuttle Endeavor is supposed to launch at 7:13 today!:D Should be a nice twilight launch...

At NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, final prelaunch preparations for the liftoff of space shuttle Endeavour continue on schedule. The countdown is in a planned hold at T-3 hours and will resume at 3:18 p.m.

Endeavour's external fuel tank has been filled with more than 500,000 gallons of chilled liquid oxygen and liquid hydrogen propellants. The shuttle's trio of main engines will draw from the external tank during the push to orbit. There are no indications of a leak, and fueling has entered the "stable replenish" mode.

The closeout crew is at Launch Pad 39A preparing for the astronauts to arrive and board Endeavour later this afternoon, and the final inspection team is performing a routine scan of the space shuttle assembly to check for ice, debris or damage.

Weather is not hampering any operations at Kennedy as the countdown progresses. Launch remains set for 7:13 p.m. EDT.

Hi-def vid of one of the Atlantis launches which I absolutely LOVE...

I'm starting to get really into NASA all of a sudden, likely due to the fact that next month I'll be on campus a half-hour away from the launch pads. This might be the last shuttle launch I won't see this year. :D

I am so downloading that vid. STUNNING!

And lucky, lucky, you! In Miami, you can see a biiiit of the smoke column if you are lucky, and it's clear, but it's a rare thing. I've always been a bit of a space geek.

Orientation already? Wow. Mine doesn't start until a month from today!
Yep.:( I'm excited to start and everything, but all this course selection is making me jittery. That and having to be there from 6 in the morning to 8 at night.

Where are you going?
I was in FL for the scheduled launch on June 13th.
I was supposed to be there today as well, but decided not to go at the last minute.
Heh! Good thing...

....I had my Laptop running the feed all day. I know I was disappointed when I heard them scrub it, but think about all the poor people that were THERE.:dazzle:

I saw Apollo 17 lift off. We were in our car on a parallel road from the launch pad. My father worked for RCA and did all the shock and vibration tests for all NASA radio equipment. Since it was to be the last Apollo mission, NASA gave us tickets to watch the launch as a gift to my father for all his hard work. It was supposed to go at 6:00 p.m. but due to lightening it was postponed until midnight. I slept in the back of the car until my dad work me up. One of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed. Reading all your excited posts about the space shuttle gave me the opportunity to remember such a beautiful memory I have of my dad. Thank you.
