Strongly Considering a Trip to WDW: Please Help me plan or talk me out of it

Definitely! Nomads is a lounge so you do have a waiter but it doesn't require reservations and is usually quick and easy.

BTW I found a vid on Youtube of some Disneyland regulars going to WDW for the first time. If you can get through it it might have some good tips

Oh I know these two lol. To be honest I used to find them insufferable but now that all these vloggers are uniting like Pop singers in the 80s getting together to sing “We are the World” they’ve been harder to avoid. Im not sure if I can trust them because they are so over the top about everything. Most of them are but really? Every.single.thing.you.eat at the parks is incredible? Anyway, I don’t find them as annoying these days to be honest. I guess I’m so starved for entertainment that my tolerance level has gone up.

Haha I feel you. I’ve never seen them before so I wasn’t sure. I watched a bit of the vid and it’s not too bad.

@GrandCanyonConcourse and @PiratesMansion Just a couple more questions if you guys (or anyone else) would be so kind to answer.

How’s Crystal Palace and the Plaza Restaurant at MK?

Is it worth lugging the family over to Whispering Canyon/ Wilderness Lodge for some BBQ? Meaning is the food good enough or is the place unique enough to make my way over to that location that doesn’t seem to be a destination or near any other landmarks or things we may want to see?

Do the buses from the hotel also go to Disney Springs? Or only the parks? I’m thinking of doing a dinner at Homecoming at Disney Springs. Just trying to understand if it would be if it’s a little too much of an undertaking at the end of a day at the parks with kids.

As much as I want to do California Grill I’m not sure it’s the right choice with a 5 year old, 2 year old and a 5 month old. I think I’ll save it for when the kids are older or when I can go on a date night with my wife. Plus no fireworks right now right?

Bummed Ohana is closed ☹️

I'm sorry to say I have not done any of those restaurants (other than Homecoming). I know people used to really enjoy the Whispering Canyon 'antics' and they would probably be a big hit with the 5 year old, but I'm not sure if they're going right now.

There should be buses to Disney Springs from your hotel.

whispering canyon , although not in my favorite restaurant list, would be a nice break if for no other reason to visit the beautiful wilderness lodge. It’s a shame hoop de doo (ran for close to 50 years since WDW opened prior to Covid) is closed and that would be a great break from MK. Wilderness lodge is a direct (and beautiful) boat ride from MK and perfect break from the parks. The food is certainly filling and satisfying (think comfort food). I would finish the evening there and Uber back to Caribbean beach as you will probably be tired from that big meal and day in the parks

I would skip California grill for sure , esp with the kids

I would also skip plaza and crystal palace (which is a beautiful setting but it’s not the same with Covid), I would do liberty tree tavern over Crystal palace

Thanks, that sounds nice. So take a boat at the end of our MK day to the Wilderness Lodge?

Crystal Palace appears to be MKs Plaza Inn. That’s why I was interested. Food ok?

No buses from resort to resort , if you wanted disney transport , you would have to boat back to MK , then bus to CBR

Oh, that doesn’t sound terrible. Is it very time consuming?

I’ve heard finding Ubers with 2 car seats may be tough. Then again, you would think it would be easier around WDW

You would think they would be prepared for that? Is there a car seat setting in Uber app? I honestly have only ever ubered at Disney and my kids were big enough not to need car seats

just like buses , the boats generally run every 20 minutes , they all launch from MK entrance area - super easy , 10 minute boat ride once it departs

I’ve only used Uber 3 times and 2 of them were called by my auto dealership. I should probably look into it. Although the buses, skyliner and boats sound fine to me.

Well the beauty of the situation is that you can eat your meal and stroll around the resort , then decide whether you want to Uber back or not

I think that going from resort to park on Disney transportation is one thing, but if you're going resort to resort (and car seat logistics allow), I would probably call a taxi or an uber and save yourself some time and frustration. If you're going resort to resort, depending on where you're going, it could potentially take an hour each way.

@mickEblu Plaza is good, similar to Carnation at DL. They have good burgers, ice cream, and milkshakes. Crystal Palace is currently different with COVID but I heard it’s decent. I love whispering canyon myself, it’s very similar to how thunder ranch used to be food wise. You can always go to to the lounge at California grill for drinks and appetizers btw!

Ok Whispering Canyon is growing on me. Sounds like a dinner after one of my days at MK. I think I’d enjoy this much more than BOG.

Realize that the Universal Studios park in Orlando is just a big fake poseur of a theme park in a swamp. They haven't even filmed a Dr. Pepper commercial there recently, much less an actual movie or 100 years of movie history like the Hollywood original version of this knock-off theme park. There is no tram tour. There is no industry. It's a fake theme park built on a swamp. I would instead focus on the Islands of Adventure theme park next door, that doesn't try to be anything but a cheesy theme park in a swamp. Embrace it! Live it! Enjoy it! Don't try and lie!

Best advice thus far in this thread.
