I believe they were.... since FHP and not Disney Security is investigating, they more than likely were

I'm thinking a used S70T with an ECU upgrade and a boost gauge/BOV... maybe an FMIC, since I notice Volvos use side mount intercoolers, and a bigger turbo perhaps.. or just bumping up the boost on the stock turbo once I figure out what the stock internals can handle. That should get me in the 300hp range fairly quickly and inexpensively (thank god Volvos depreciate!)

Was your rental a stick? sportshift?auto? I opt for Volvos when i rent too, if available. I'll basically take anything that isn't Ford...lol...The Mazda Protege has great handling for a compact.

A S70T is a great project car. Just keep it with the soccer mom look though, because that's your only edge when the cop starts trying to find the car that made his radar go nuts. Stay away from a-pillar gauges and rice rims. As long as you have a good set of tires/brakes you're all set.

mine was a Sportshift... I liked it a lot... I really did.

off topic though.. lol. Volvos and Mazdas are "technically" fords

as for the gauges and wheels... a nice set of 18 or 19" 5 spokes are what I like (with a brake upgrade), and the gauges would be put into the instrument cluster or center console rather than A-pillar or on the dash

Yeah they are, but they haven't taken as much of a beating from the parent company as has Jaguar or even Land Rover to an extent.

I went on a field trip to Beaver Run (a local place where people can take their cars to race on a variety of tracks). It was about drunk driving and safe driving. We got to drive Mazda6's and they were so nice. You had an instructor with you and you had to practice avoiding crashes in a variety of ways at four way intersection, very fun!

Anyways we only have an Olds Alero, Chevy Astro, and I have an S-10. The Alero is sort of sporty, but the Mazda6 had amazing handling and it was a great experience.

If I come up with 300 extra bucks, I am thinking about taking the driving course there where you practice power skids, slick roads, crash avoidance and a variety of other things. It would be fun plus $200 off insurance every year.

For a 16 year old, that is great. So anyways, I really danced around the point that if there is places like Beaver Run where I live, (30 miles north of pittsburgh) I am sure there is somewhere in Orlando where these kids can go and race in a safe environment where they wouldn't be putting the lives of others at risk!

Please don't take it personally towards you. It's just the fact that MOST of us who used to be teens, have probably been through that type of wild, irresponsible side, and then as we started getting older we realized..OMG, I can't believe the things I used to do when I was young and thought nothing could touch me! You're correct, not all teenagers are like that...as well as not all adults act like adults. But I think when we say it was probably a teenager, it's because we can remember what we as well as our friends used to be like :animwink: No Disrespect meant to Teenagers. I can probably speak for others here as well.

I get truly frightened when I see my beloved 17 yr old neighbor get in his Mitsubishi 3000. It has a different engine that originally came and it has way too many ponies for his own good. He told me the other day he was doing 90 mph. I hope he gets this out of his system soon and I hope that being in the fire dept will make him think twice.
I know that in my day, my Mustang GT, with it's 4 barrel carburator, had auto pilot. I had to use it too many times. We could legally drink at 18. and kids nowdays don't know how to drive defensively. They don't think to anticipate something to happen; whereas when I do 80, I think of where I am at, can somebody pull out in front of me etc. Until alot of these kids figure this out; I'm afraid you'll see alot more of 20-Fs (accident with fatality):(

Seeing the stunts people pull on the road sometimes I'm left speechless...its sad that people don't think about the consequences of their actions beforehand...but then again street racers are just as bad as those who talk on their cell phones while driving...(and people wonder why I drive an SUV)....

Drive Safely everyone... :(

Disney has to be the worst place to street race...so many familes around and little kids... WHat would of happened if they had hit a family's mini van that would of been tragic.

Was that an avatar of Che Guevara? Heh Rage Against the Machine made that commie famous!

yes that is Che... altered to look a wee more like me.. hehe. I am not a fan of Rage though... I've admired Che since I was in my early teens in Latin America... I have a lot of respect for someone that can be so open about their beliefs.

as to fiat, they also own, believe it or not, ferrari

DaimlerChrysler has a few more divisions in it too, like american lafrance(fire trucks), thomas (school busses), unimog (i'm not sure what these are for yet), and freightlinner custom chasis (motorhomes and other custom frames and engines)

Unimog is actually part of Mercedes-Benz... basically off-road commercial vehicles. And I did have Freightliner in there as well. I had no clue that Thomas fell under DaimlerChrysler though

yup and thomas owns another company that makes smaller busses. I also forgot about ORION BUS (city busses) company also has its parrent company as DaimlerChrysler. DaimlerChrysler owns more companies then most can imagine. I'm sure there is more than that.

Fiat AG owns Ferrari SPA and Masseratti SPA. I believe GM was/is in talks to buy Fiat but that was months ago and I haven't seen anything on Ferrariworld about this (though I doubt Luca is about to admit that the venerable cavallino is owned by lowly fiat)
