I am looking to book for early next year but I don't know if my reasoning of wanting to go "just to walk up Main Street" justifies the trip. I know that asking this question on this site is like asking a room full of children if candy is a reasonable food for dinner but I am asking anyways.

What is the strangest reason you have gone to Disneyworld? We all have gone to Disney for the rides, the atmosphere, the nostalgia, etc. but have you gone just to see a certain character? To ride the ferryboat? To see if they have painted that wall yet?

Next year we're planning the family trip and I also have a conference that will be held at the Swan and Dolphin...it will be VERY HARD not to make it to one of the parks. This year was hard enough not being at WDW...next year with the excitement of going in a few weekswith the family...it will be impossible to resist.

We've traveled many places, but for some reason the only place where we truly feel a disconnect from the real world is Disney. So, we make room for it in the budget (somehow) every 12-18 months.

I am with you, so far in all the vacation destinations WDW is the only place I can feel disconnected from the real world, just relax & have fun.

After posting my last one I thought of another reason, watching the sunrise while sitting on the Boardwalk on a summer morning. The subtle quiet and tranquility sitting there in the morning while the various birds are coming out in search of human handouts and the noises from WDW waking up for the day ahead is quite endearing, just a tease of the day ahead.

"It's food & wine fest..."
"Well it is Not So Scary..."
"Well it is Star Wars Weekend...."
"Well, we have DVC Points to use...."
"Well, it is a 3 day weekend...."

The reasons are always justified in some way.

Went down just to see The Orchestra and Alan Parsons. Oh yeah, and those runDisney things.

Also once scheduled 3 days of meetings at our Orlando office so we could go to Braves spring training. Didn't make it to the parks but did PI one night.

To keep up my premier flight status. I found a roundtrip nonstop flight from Denver to Orlando and figured if I was going to make the loop, might as well make a day of it. Rode PoTC, the people mover and was back on the flight home before the fireworks.

Our first "adult" trip to Disney was booked right after we had a tragic loss of a pregnancy and future fertility. When we went two months later, it was a great trip to reconnect, relax & start to dream of our next chapter.

We just booked our next big trip in August after Sulley (chocolate lab), our baby and best friend for ten years had to be put down a few weeks ago.

It probably seems nuts to heal your heart at Disney, but that's apparently what we do.

I do that at least ever other week, not always main street but to walk around Disney World. I am only 25 minutes away with an AP so that helps but that is the main reason I moved to orlando.

I know five families with little girls who are going solely to meet Anna & Elsa. I also know one family that cancelled their trip because they didn't get fastpasses for their M&G. They are now going to Uni.

Our reason- while I'm sure not uncommon - was because my daughter was turning 3 and we wanted to get there before we had to pay for her.
