I received this in my inbox today, and thought I would share it.

The following scene took place on a BA flight between
Johannesburg and London.

A white woman, about 50 years old, was seated next to a black man.

Obviously disturbed by this, she called the air Hostess.

Madam, what is the matter, the hostess asked,

You obviously do not see it then? she responded. You placed me next to a black man. I do not agree to sit next to someone from such a repugnant group. Give me an alternative seat.

Be calm please, the hostess replied. Almost all the places on this flight are taken. I will go to see if another place is available.

The Hostess went away and then came back a few minutes later.

Madam, just as I thought, there are no other available seats in the economy class. I spoke to the captain and he informed me that there is also no seat in the business class. All the same, we still have one place in the first class.

Before the woman could say anything, the hostess continued.

It is not usual for our company to permit someone from the economy class to sit in the first class. However, given the circumstances, the captain feels that it would be scandalous to make someone sit next to someone sooooo disgusting.

She turned to the black guy, and said. Therefore, Sir, if you would like to, please take your hand luggage because a seat awaits you in the first class.

At the moment, the other passengers who were shocked by what they had just witnessed stood up and applauded.

The ending to that story really made me smile, hope it does you too  :sohappy:

Its incredible that there are still people like that still around....I mean if you think about it...there really isn't more than one race....we're all one race...HUMAN...either than that your skin color is based on your decendants and what part of the world they came from...just my 2 cents.

Nice story Al.

WAY TO GO!!!

I have a similar story...

A princess was seated in coach on a transatlantic flight. It was an emergency and there was no other way across the atlantic, so it had to be done. Well, she wasn't having any of it. So when the plane was ready to take off, she stands up demanding to be sat in first. A flight attendant tells her she must remain seated. She replies with "In my country, I am a princess. We don't do what people tell us to." The flight attendant replies with "In my country, I am a queen... which means I outrank you, so SIT DOWN"

ok.. enough bad jokes...

good story though al

Its 2004 and still we have folks with mindsets in 1955....

but then again I live in a state where many people still want the state flag to have the Confederate emblem on it. (That's a whole other can o' worms).

Racism has NO place in this or any other time. This or any other place. We are all created in God's image, we are all created equal.

There are more than enough people who give all races a bad image.

I am not going to get into a Civil War History, but to the vast majority of men who fought in the Confederacy, the flag was a symbol of pride. These men were not fighting for slavery. These men did not own slaves. To them, it was about defending their land, defending their state.

I know the flag has been made to be a symbol of racism and for that it is offensive to lots of people.

I hope that one day, these issues will become what they are...History.

It's true what many of you have expressed here about humanity and race.

We are all more closely related than what we thought just a few years ago.

For instnace, in chimpanzees of the same species, but diferent "groups" regionally there is MUCH greater variation in the DNA makeup between them than there is between two humans separated by continents of differring race.

The similarity between human DNA is so close that the portion of DNA that is used to geneticly "fingerprint" people in police forensics is the junk DNA portion of the strand, those peices that don't do anything as far as making us humans. If we didn't have that extra do nothing DNA, we would, nearly all of us, show a "match" to anyone else.

In fact, the lack of genetic diversity within humans is actually cause for alarm with some scientists who feel our gene pool is too shallow to allow for the human species to survive major geological changes.

We are a young species, relativly new to this world (geologically speaking) and we are all, according to what the current data leads us to believe, related to each other from one branch on a family tree. For people of the indiginous race living on the same continent, the similiraity of DNA is even closer, showing that they are related directly only a few steps away.
