Stop being scared of RAIN!!

It's not the rain that scares me, it's the lightning. I see so many people who are so blase' about walking around in thunder storms. Doesn't Orlando get a lot of lightning strikes?
Yes, Orlando has a LOT of cloud to ground lightening.

And although the boards are full of people who don't mind thunderstorms, you better believe that when it starts, the people actually in the parks all run for cover. When there are big storms with lightning, most people instinctively know to stay out of that...and they do.

If you experience a thunderstorm at WDW, you will see exactly how many people just walk though it. Very few to none!

Rain is one thing. Lightning is another.

I think it is so funny that people get on water rides but are afraid to get wet in the rain. It's like getting out of the pool when a shower comes up. What's the point? If it is a lighting storm then thats different....but rain...I look at that as an opportunity to cool off.

We need time for things to happen.
Here's my story:
Except for last year we've gone to the World the first week of May for about 7 years running.
In that time we got about 45 minutes worth of rain total and 40 of it was while we were in HoP.

We were lucky enough to not have to deal with rain for all those years until last year when we went at the end of September. We had a little rain or a chance of rain almost every day we were there. Did it stop us?
Nope. Was a sold out MNSSHP basically empty because people got scared away because of it? Yes.

Do ponchos s*ck? Yes.
I've never been able to wear rain gear. I don't know what it is...(probably being a bit out of shape;)) but the minute I put a raincoat or a poncho on my body temperature goes through the roof. So I end up dry but extremely uncomfortable.

As far as the getting wet part..I could be soaked from head to ankle and enjoy myself but I hate getting my shoes wet. So ponchos and rain coats defeat the purpose there....So after all this long winded rambling my answer is this..

Can I get through the rain in WDW? He!! yes -- I ain't gonna let it ruin my vacation...I'm having a good time no matter what.
Am I going to be a whiney little on the inside while I'm having a good time?? ...yeah probably.

Although on rare occasions, the rain will cool things off for a short time in the summer, it really is rare. Generally, it remains just as hot, but is more humid and uncomfortable. Just a heads-up there.

while I am not scared of the rain, this past March we were in line for the HM and the skies opened up! Luckily we were able to duck into the exit of the steamboat and stayed 100% dry. The crappy part about the rain storms is that it dumps water, is quick, but unless you're there in the summer you aren't going to dry all that fast.

It sucks being miserable all night because you got caught in the wrong part of the park during a strong FL downpour.

I've both stayed at the parks through the showers and had days completely washed out due to severe thunderstorms. But on the bright side, you're still at Disney and the Resorts try to do a good job of keeping you entertained if there is a complete wash out. And besides, if all else fails, that's what watching "Must Do Disney" on your resort TV is for!

I don't like collards, but I'm not scared of them. I don't like wearing wet clothes or shoes, but I'm not afraid of them. I take a shower in the nude. I don't wear my clothes in there. It's not because I'm afraid of them.
I hate walking around soaking wet going into cold buildings to ride. I hate sitting down in Philarmagic on a soaking wet seat, because someone doesn't mind walking in the rain and being wet. Yuk. A light shower is one thing, but a downpour is another. They make people with ponchos take them off for certain rides. Those ponchos are a lot less wet and nasty than someone's soaking wet bottom. And, what about those people who wring out their hair on my feet or swing their hair around to dry right in my face? My poncho hurts no one. I take it off outside and make sure not to wet anyone else. I quickly turn it inside out. I love the rain, but I don't go out and stand in it.
The only time I want my clothes wet is when I'm washing them. I have a swimsuit if I want to wear wet clothes.
Wet shoes are blisters waiting to happen.

We had rain at one point every day we were there last august, and only once was it enough to send us back to the Hotel. I got off Star Tours and wondered why everyone was chillin like villans in the Gift shop..till i stepped outside into a monsoon. The park was set to close like an hour from that anyways, and parts of the park were a bit flooded, so i found diffrent places to stage a quick second of dryness, and we made it back to the bus to the hotel. Other then that we were all armed with ponchos in our bag, and had no problem putting them on and reaping the benefits of when others leave :)

The only thing I caught in all of that was that you don't like collards! What??? How is that even possible! Collards are a staple in our house! :p

I do like turnips though. So maybe, I'm not all bad. I do go on sometimes trying to make a little point.
Yeah, well so do I...my husband says that I am the only person he knows that takes 30 minutes to tell a 3 minute story! As for turnips...if we are ever in the same place and time and collards and turnips are being served, I'll eat your collards if you'll eat my turnips. I don't like those things!

Exactly this! Impeccable logic. No ponchos for me. They only make me wet from sweat, instead of from clean rainwater. Except for my shoes, which get more wet because with a poncho you are not sheltering, but walking around from puddle to puddle.

I just find shelter for 30-45 minutes. Then enjoy the emptied out park after that. :)

Oh, and do get out of a pool when there is a thunderstorm. The last place you want to be in. Water and electricity don't mix.
