Sticky Mickey or Tonga Toast

Okay, another question: I've got one day where I'm on my own for breakfast. Which is a better option, a Stickey Mickey at the Concourse Steakhouse or Tonga Toast at the Kona Cafe? I've never had either or even stopped at those resorts, so any info is appreciated.

Thanks

Rob

Okay, I'm finally getting the chance to come back to this thread and tell you what happened. Due to our day at the beach being rained out, I was able to hit both the Kona Cafe for Tonga Toast and the Concourse Steakhouse for a Stickey Mickey. (for the entire, obnoxioulsy long trip report, go here: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21683&pagenumber=1)

I have to say, that while the Sticky Mickey was good, I like the Tonga Toast MUCH better! :slurp:

The entire breakfast, however was better at the Concourse Steakhouse where we had Eggs Benedict along with the Stickey Mickeys.

This thread prompted me to try Sticky Mickey's when we were there on vacation last week. We had tried the Tonga Toast before on several occasions. The Sticky Mickey's were good, but I have to admit that I'm still a Tonga Toast fan first!

I'm so happy that you tried both. I voted for the Tonga Toast. It is fantastic!

I know that you mentioned that you had some other trips this year. When were they again? Did you see the post about the Official Meet? What are the chances that you can join us?

Hey Pam!

I actually just booked my plane ticket for June 4th-9th for the Gay Days trip. (Still keeping my eyes open for AP rates, but currently booked at the Wyndham Palace through a business connection.)

The other trip is VERY tentative. I was kind of hoping to catch the Epcot Food and Wine festival. But now that my sister's wedding is in October, I'm not sure I can afford to go to here wedding AND WDW in Oct/Nov. If I can't do that trip, then I'll head back in late Feb/Early March when I get my tax refund next year.

The dates of the meet are across a conference here at work that there isn't a chance of me getting out of. Otherwise I'd definitely consider it. It sounds like fun!

Hey,

I booked a trip for a good friend of mine for the Gays Days. She is staying at the AKL. I have trips in May, June and Dec. this year. Let me know if your conference dates change and you can make it, we'd love to meet you!

I have to agree on both counts.

First, syrup was totally unnecessary for the Tonga Toast. It would have just been too much.

Second, without this board I never would have tried a dole whip, tonga toast, or stickey mickeys. Or known lots of other things that helped make our vacation that much more special.

Thanks to everyone here!

I will try to remember to post which one I chose and how it was, though.

Come on now the hobbits have 2 and 3 breakfasts every day! Surely you can help in the name of research?

Tonga

We had the Tonga Toast at the Poly a few years back. None of us really liked it. Way too sweet!!! Now we love Cinammon Buns, is the Sticky Mickey Like that? It sounds great. We would probably order one and split it.

If by Cinammon buns you mean cinnamon rolls (sweet bread with a cinnamon sugar filling, rolled up, and then sliced so they makes spiral shaped pastry when baked) then, no. That's not what Stickey Mickeys are.

They're more like a dinner roll that has cinnamon and sugar in the dough before it's baked. then they put three rolls into a round baking pan so that they form a three circle "Mickey" head when it's baked. It's then served with icing drizzled across the top and a little pitcher of carmel sauce to pour onto it before eating.

They are very good, and were a perfect comliment to the eggs benedict. They've got a "special" that includes mini-stickey (or should that be Minnie-Mickey, )mickeys, and Eggs Benedict that was wonderful. The entire breakfast was better than Tonga Toast in my opinion (I like eggs benedict a lot), but on a strictly Tonga Toast versus Stickey Mickey basis, I have to go with the Toast!

Hope that clears it up.

Thanks for pointing out something that I am missing in my trip planning. Sticky Mickey.

Someone on this forum always comes through.......

So here is my question for this posting...

Does anyone have the recipe for the Sticky Mickey?

we bought ours as a resale and it was $12 per point than through Disney itself. All in all it depends on which resort you buy at. our 100 points was 7200

Okay, excuse me for bringing up math here, but something doesn't add up. If 100 points was $7200 isn't that $72 a point and not $12? :veryconfu

Yeah I guess I am kind of ignorant here when you talk of points. What are you talking about?

I'm sorry. I type faster than I think. its $12 less per point than through disney. Disney is $84 per point.
