In all fairness, if RnRC were to be redone today with a rap act making an obscene gesture in the pre-ride video I'd be screaming murder and the end of WDW over it.
Unfortunately, it's just a picture of a finger taped to the glass...was the video quality updated when they did this?
Interesting. I did not know that. They do sometimes insert a name of someone in the queue when it is slow. They did that to my daughter in 2014. It was pretty cute.

I'm pretty sure it was in the rotation somehow. Haven't seen it since 1999/2000. Honestly it was more awkward than anything, even though it seemed like a cool idea. No way it was staying if they could cut or stick that CM elsewhere, especially since they had the alternate video ready. Was the "Chris" spot an actual position on the load CM rotation or did it just share duties with another spot in queue management?
However that may be, a live CM was part of a larger DHS style that relied heavily on live interaction - in attractions, ride guides, on the boulevards, in the Backlot and Animaton tous, in being lI've show heavy. Live CM interactIon was a signature style of the park, adding to its identity and distinctness from the other parks.I'm pretty sure it was in the rotation somehow. Haven't seen it since 1999/2000. Yes, it is announced by CM over PA. They randomly ask name then announce it over the top as well as thanking that person for backstage passes. Cute touch. That's because they don't. It isn't possible.
Unless a CM is just saying a kids name over the PA system which has absolutely nothing to do with the video.

Not true. Due to the new magic that Disney has rolled out, depending on the gesture displayed, digital fingers will be added or deleted to the picture when viewed. That's a sure fire way to ensure that your picture is blocked. Happens all the time.
To be fair I may have that backwards, it may be the auto-download to wristband that was not censored and the view the pic and scan your wristband at ride's end that was. But the concept is the same - a photo they thought required editing was edited in one method of receipt but not the other. If it's not going to be seen on a large screen by the general public they may care less. And this will lead to many shenanigans on my next trip, thanks.
I'm sorry, but there's no way Disney could afford to keep an employee there. Not at Disney CM wages, which run up to $8/h.
It was removed in late 2000- the issue was that the only entrance/exit into the 'studio' was going around the projector which was deamed to hazardous with no additional exits as well as it was a rather tight fit for anyone mid to larger size...
I swear I saw someone do it just a few years ago - I want to say 2014? Never saw it before or since. I only remember because I was genuinely surprised, I always thought the line was dumb. Didn't realize "Chris" was actually supposed to be in there. It was removed in late 2000- the issue was that the only entrance/exit into the 'studio' was going around the projector which was deamed to hazardous with no additional exits as well as it was a rather tight fit for anyone mid to larger size...
That is just a make-it-or-break it. I was willing to check out DHS with its 5 amazing rides, but this one thing ruins it for me. Get your act together, Disney.Disney digitally added a finger to Tyler's "Shocker" gesture in the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster pre-show.

No, others have said the CM simply says it over Joe on the PA. Nice idea, but I can't imagine that enhances the experience for anyone other than the family involved. Sounds like something that might make Imagineers cringe. How? It's Joe Perry that asks for the black Les Paul. Did they just record him saying thousands of names?
I did it today with both hands, one on my head like Steven and one to the side and no censorship at all. She's right, ya know.
