Shock!..Horror!:jawdrop:..I hope this is not true..But today ( on here ) I read a rumour ( only a rumour ) that early magic hours for Onsite guests might be a thing of the past..Now I know everyone has their favourite perks that Disney give to us bubble people ( I like that..The Bubble people ) But what one perk,if Disney were to do away with, would make you stay outside the bubble..?...Now let me say here I love the feeling of total immersion staying Onsite, but I don't consider it a perk..To me that comes with the big price tag of your resort bill..For me getting up at dawn and arriving at a park before outside guests arrive is awesome.Even in July, Ive footage of us walking in front of Cinderella's castle with hardly anyone in sight..So if Disney decided to abolish this perk,I would definitely stay outside..Which perk,if any, would make you move outside the bubble,if Disney decide to stop it.?

I would stay anyway as Disney is home to me - but I would be rather upset if they removed EMH as that seems to be the main perk for staying on site now an do do use it when I go! After all packages are no longer left in your room you have to pick up from the allocated collection point in your hotel, others not staying in Disney use the buses so what other perks are there really?

Plenty..Here are my favourites..No need to carry cash...KTWC...Get your souvenirs sent back to your resort..FREE..:jawdrop:...I'll say it again for the hard of hearing ;)..FREE DDP...A souvenir magic wrist band to keep ( and show off to your friends who only dream of going on a WDW vacation ) And of course early & night extra hours.

Forgot about the no cash one! Have yet to get a magic band to be able to comment on that one and am looking forward to the opportunity. Have DDP and that is worth it if you can get it free when you book. I am Disney mad so would probably still go whatever they did but would be disappointed if EMH go.

Iam also a Disney geek but in defiance,I would stay on I - Drive somewhere near WDW and the money I would save would pay for my 3 adult 14 day hopper tickets..Thats about $1500 and would still have plenty of bucks for our food..Example..2 weeks for the 3 of us staying at a moderate resort in WDW..$7500..However 2 weeks for the 3 of us staying at Wyndham Orlando ( with free transport to WDW ) would be $4800..

Prior to the current incarnation of EMH (certain mornings and certain evenings), the feature/perk was always MORNING extra magic hours. This was prior to 9/11/2001. After that, they discontinued the morning hours and replaced them with a character caravan that would visit each resort. This lasted for 1 year when the morning/evening EMH was implemented. This was due to guest complaints, so I doubt that this rumor is true.

I agree cost will probably stop me staying in Disney over perks.

Thank you sir. You were an inspiration.
For us it is the convenience of staying onsite . I was Badly I'll for a couple of days on a previous vacation and ended up in bed for the best part of 48hrs.If we were not on resort DW would not have been so at ease to just hop on a bus to the park.If cost becomes an option we would rather strech the gap between stays or stay at a value than off property

We are staying here for a few days before we check in to BLT.
HILTON GRAND VACATIONS SUITES ON INTERNATIONAL DRIVE
8122 ARREZZO WAY, ORLANDO, FLORIDA, 32821, USA
Got it for $80 per night in a King studio with balcony. It is in walking distance to the
Premium outlets on Vineland. The best rate for those nights at POP were $120, $200 at mods and more than $300 at deluxe resorts. Places and prices like this are why we do offsite more and more often.
I agree about the EMH perks. It is a huge perk for offsite people as well, especially early morning EMH. Whatever park has morning EMH, we go somewhere else...automatic lower crowds. If you go to a park that had evening EMH the night before, the crowd is even smaller. Of course, going in early Sept., the crowds are a non-factor anyway. And we drive, so DME and transportation means nothing as well. Don't do the dining plan either...so why would we ever stay onsite? Because we like it, especially DVC villas and deluxe.

I wouldn't like it if they did away with EMH. That's definitely a big perk. I know Universal, they have the unlimited Express pass for onsite guests. I don't think Disney could really do that as they have 27 resorts compared to Universals 3, soon to be 4, so they would have MANY more guests to give unlimited Fast Passes to. I do also believe Uni has an extra hour in the AM for onsite guests as well (though I could be wrong)

I also enjoy not having to carry your packages around the parks with you all day! You can just have them sent back to your room. When we were staying offsite once, I forgot to pick my package up at package pick up and didn't remember til the next morning while we were waiting for DME to pick us up. I had to have it shipped back to me in Maine.

I think I agree with what 93 boomer said. The transportation thing is huge for me, you save on not needing a car or the over priced gas in the area.

As a person, who for years would travel from Indiana to Florida and stay in Kissimmiee... I actually enjoy staying on Disney Property. While it is indeed what one would consider a over-priced hotel.. it just has that feeling. You KNOW you are at Disney. While staying offsite, you don't get that atmosphere... so even though transportation would be the big thing for me, I would say if the atmosphere changed.. that would affect me even more

-

As for Extra Magic Hours.. they don't push me too much in the ways of staying on the resort. I like the Evening hours more than the morning... but most of the time those happen I've already been at the park for 16 hours already anyways. :)

If they got rid of free transportation to the parks and DTD along with DME, I'd be crushed. I can't trust myself being able to drive down the Florida roads so imagine having to fork over even more money to get around WDW...I can't bear the thought! I don't use EMH myself but by the looks of it, EMH is worth it and if they got rid of it, I think Disney is asking for trouble.

Hmm, that's a good point - I was about to say I could see staying off property next time and renting a car, but it's easier to split up when necessary if on property.

RE: paying in the parks with the KTTW card, can't you also just use a credit card?

Disney plastic is more magical?
You wanna know something..Your spot on..Last year we used our KTWC for 14 days & nights..Rang up a bill of approx $1400 and when we paid on our last day ( when it got to $1000 the resort concierge told us ) Anyway we paid with our Visa card. When we got home instead of getting $1.54 for every UK £1...We were getting $1.63..Thats 9 cents better off for every UK £1...:joyfull:...Who says us Scots don't like a good deal when it comes to money...;)
