Book Saratoga Springs Resort 1 Bedroom Villa for same price?
Already booked for Dec. 12-17 and just got a promo for a 1 bedroom villa with dining plan for same price.
Any suggestions greatly appreciatted. We will have a car if that makes a difference.

How many people are going?

SSR gives you a one bedroom with two tvs and two separate sleeping areas as well as a full kitchen. Always nice to have fridge to keep drinks cold and the like.

If it is just two I might take the Wilderness lodge but for more than that the 1-bedroom villa gives you the option to spread out and have some time to yourself if needed.

Depends on what your priorities are.

Wilderness Lodge:
Highly themed, close to the Magic Kingdom, great restaurants, lots of recreation options.

Saratoga Springs:
Bigger room, close to Downtown Disney, DVC benefits.

Family of 4

1 year old and the reason for our trip....6 year old Daughter. I understand the larger room, but was just wondering if you are still imersed with all that is Disney and the Holidays at the saratoga springs resort as well. Also wouldn't be bad to have a kitchen to cook a few meals.

personally, I would stay at the WL (and have 10 times).

It is one of the better themed and is beautifully decorated for Christmas.
It is close to the MK and since you have little kids you will more than likely spend a good chunk of time there. The boat ride over to the MK is a great way to start the day and seeing the castle come into view when you approach the MK a nice surprise for the little ones.

Whispering Canyon Cafe is great for families with kids as it is not a quiet place and they have the Pony Express races as well as other fun to keep them amused. Do the Hidden Mickey Hunt in the lobby, you get the hint paper at the front desk and then relax in front of the fireplace (in one of those comfy rockers) with some coffee or hot chocolate.

I vote for WL too. As you can see by my avatar I'm a fan of that resort. It's beautiful during Christmas!

Saratoga Springs is just sooooo big. and they may put a tree in the lobby but I don't see how that resort can ever put you in the "holiday spirit"

and some buildings are VERY far away from the DTD boat transportation!

I won't lie to ya, the theming of the Wilderness Lodge is MUCH more Disney-esque than Saratoga. The theming at Saratoga is decidedly more muted. But again, you're talking about a much bigger room, 2 TVs a kitchen, a much better main pool area (IMHO), plus more quiet pools (WIlderness Lodge Villas has one extra pool). You're close to Downtown Disney, with some quite lovely views depending on your room location. In fact, depending on room location, you're also within WALKING distance of Downtown Disney which opens you up to many many more dining options, not to mention Disneyquest if your 6-year-old might be into that sort of thing.

But even still, if I'm reading your original post correctly, for the same amount of money as just staying at Wilderness Lodge, you can stay in a 1BR unit at Saratoga...AND WITH free dining. It's a no-brainer. Go to Saratoga, and with money you're saving by not having to buy meals & use it for MVMCP tickets. You've got a car, make meal reservations for Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge, plus any other resorts you'd like to visit. We've got MVMCP tickets, and what we did was make reservations for Whispering Canyon for a very late lunch. By the time we're done eating, we're going to take the water launch over to the MK, we can get admission into the parks with our Party tickets starting at 4. We'll stay till the baby gets cranky, then water launch back and get our car. (To avoid the whole "You can't park in the resorts and go to a park" debate, if necessary, we intend to pay for valet parking. It'll be worth it for this convenience).

Haven't seen posts from you in awhile, glad to know you're still lurking around

You have me torn with this one. WL is hands down my favorite resort and SSR is somplace, personally, I'd never want to stay. HOWEVER when you add in that you can get extra space and eat for the same price it's sort of hard to say no to it.

Having seen the Christmas decorations last year at WL, I feel confident in saying that they are absolutely breathtaking. We are staying there this year for Christmas and we can't wait. SSR seems like it would be a very different experience. It depends on what is most important to you and your family- the theme and beauty of WL (esp. at Christmas) or the extra space, kitchen, etc at SSR.

I say value wise SSR is a much better deal with the free dining and larger room included. You can plan a early dinner over at WL and enjoy the holiday decorations. SSR pool is much better and overall is really not all that bad.

"really not all that bad." THERE'S a ringing endorsement. :ROFLOL:

Saratoga is swell. If it were a resort anywhere else in America, most folks would be really impressed. It's just that, since the theming is more subtle than most other Disney resorts - and because it's not spitting distance to any of the parks - it's often treated as the red-headed stepchild of Disney resorts. Ditto for Old Key West.

The SSR deal would give you the larger room. I prefer the great theming and magic at Wilderness Lodge, which SSR just seems to lack somehow.

No...I already have the bunkbed room booked at the

Wilderness Lodge but everyday I mess around on the Disney website to see what type of deals are out there. Messing around today I noticed I could get the 1 bedroom villa at SSR for basically the same price I am paying for the package at the Wilderness Lodge. Was just wanting some opinons from those that have either stayed at both or at least at SSR. For those of you that have stayed at SSR in at least a 1bedroom, did you used the kitchen at all?
Thanks
