Hello all...this might seem like kind of a strange question but here it goes...Everyone knows how they always seem to have a theme at Disney as far as "years" go. Last time it was "Year of a Million Dreams", this time it's the "What Will You Celebrate", well I have a perfect idea for a theme, anyone have any idea of who I could write to at Disney to make a suggestion? By the way, the title is "strange question, not STARNGE question...but I'm sure you figured that out

As I understand it, Disney responds to any "suggestions" with a form letter that basically says they don't accept suggestions and that no-one will actually read your suggestion in full. Their lawyers won't let them.

If they were to accept it and act on it, you would be in a position to seek compensation. They already pay a lot of people that work for them to come up with ideas.

I was a little surprised when i found out companies dont take suggestions. I guess the idea of the person seeking compensation makes sense.

I figured this out years ago when i wanted to suggest to McDonalds a chocolate McFlurry... no luck

Soooooooooooo, you might as well share your suggestion with us; so we can 'rake it over the coals' (as they say). We won't do you wrong. :)

O.K. well since they won't take suggestions, I'll run it by everyone here, you all might think it's pretty stupid! It actually came up for a reason, we still talk about it to this day...My wife, stepson and I went to the World in August of 2008 when they were still doing the "Year of a Million Dreams" thingy. We were wondering how they decided to give the awards out, we had heard that they just walk around the parks and randomly give them out. Well we saw some woman pushing a stroller with a big straw hat in it..no baby! The straw hat fell out and she kept walking, didn't seem to notice it at all. My stepson said "hey, maybe they set that up and she works for Disney, maybe they did that to see if anyone would return it to her"! so he ran up, grabbed the straw hat and caught up to her and gave her the hat back. Well, it wasn't a set up but we did end up getting a "wish" on that trip...we each got a free cup full of the popcorn kinda stuff and a certificate at the Sci-Fi Drive In...kinda cool, granted it wasn't one of the "big" prizes but it was still cool.
Anyway, my idea is for cast members to keep an eye out for people helping each other out...holding doors for people, returning lost items, things like that (I'm sure they could do it for lots of things) Maybe they could title it something corny like "year of sharing and caring" or something like that. I think it's a decent idea, could be fun with everyone being super friendly and polite to everyone in the parks and all

I think they already sort of do that.
I found someone's ticket left in the Splash FastPass machine and returned it to a CM. The CM gave me FP's to Buzz, as a thank you.

I really like that idea...since it seems to be one thing really missing sometimes in the parks these days, common courtesy.

Yes, Disney unofficially has great CM's who do often have that, and in some ways, guests may feel the need to fake or act out being nice for prizes...in fact I wouldn't put it past them (picture some major "tragedy" about to take place and an "unassuming" guest just happens to save the day, only to find out that they were acting it out)

So yes, good idea, but I don't think we could trust the guests to get the true intentions of it.

You can replace 'Disney' with any major company.

They are doing something regarding guests helping each other out, at least they were during YOAMD. They had/have Pixie Dust pins. The cast member would spot a guest helping out another guest and give them the pin. It started out with two in a package, one to keep the other to give away to someone helping others or whoever you felt deserved it. Not sure, but I started to see them have only 1 pin in the package. Not sure why, either guests were keeping the second one and trading it instead or they were running out of the pins.:lookaroun Who knows:shrug:

I didn't even know that they did that, sounds pretty cool, something that would fit in perfect with my "Year of Caring and Sharing"!...lol I wish I worked for Disney, I'd run my suggestion by them if I worked in that Dept. where they come up with that stuff. They could still use it if they want, I wouldn't require any compensation (although an annual pass would be nice! )
