Starbucks at WDW

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Yeah, it's me digging up old info and threads... Is this still accurate?
I just combined 8 Starbucks GCs and have quite a bit on one card now (practically two seperate lunch meals for two, in SB price ranges!), so with he penny pinching and saving for our trip, I thought it would be good to be able to use this while we're there, if we can. If not, I'm sure there's a few Starbucks elsewhere we can find somewhere on our trip... Maybe.
Yes you can still use gift cards and earn rewards(stars). You just can't redeem earned rewards(stars) for free drinks and food etc. :)

Eh, I agree with whoever said it on page 2 (I think), It's all about corporate money now days. Coca Cola Refreshment Stations, Kodak Picture Spot, Wishes presented by Pandora.

One of the first rules of financing, marketing, and product placement: Why spend your money when you can spend that of someone else?

If it weren't for the fact that this has been the way that Disney has operated at least since Disneyland was built. It's hardly a new concept. It's been there since the beginning.

It's ridiculous they caved to the Starbucks name. Not saying anything about Starbucks; it just shouldn't be at WDW.

Why not? Why shouldn't it be there? It's pretty subtle and well-themed in MK ( I haven't been to the other locations). It's not like Disney Parks are some sacred ground free from corporate logos and advertising.. they've been there since DAY ONE. Disney Parks has ALWAYS aligned itself with very large corporate sponsors and displayed their logos in the parks. I don't see why it should be a problem that Starbucks provide their well-respected products to guests in the park.

So true, I mean the next thing you know they will be letting Coke use their own name in the parks. I mean everyone knows that the Disney Company manufactures their own coffee and soft drinks. The nerve!*

* Yes, that was sarcasm.

Meh, not funny and really not the same thing.

Starbucks is its own retail store and not at all like Coke or any company having its products sold in WDW by WDW vendors.

If Casey's Corner turned into McDonalds, that too would be different than selling Coke, Dasani, or Minute Maid in WDW. No one is saying they want Mickey branded coke - We are saying we don't want retail stores from the outside world in WDW. Want to sell Starbucks coffee? I'm fine with that, but at least try to sell it discreetly.

Not sure how you're failing to see the difference here.

You guys are mixing apples and oranges. It's not the corporate products themselves or the advertising. It's the fact there is a Starbucks retail store selling coffee in WDW as if it's a regular street corner in a major city.

If you are fine with that, that's your opinion and of course that's fine. However, if you're going to argue with the many people that hate a Starbucks retail store in WDW, you have to come up with a better argument than, "Well, they sell and advertise Coke in WDW." Not the same.

Corporate sponsorships are also not the same. I know FedEx used to sponsor Space Mountain and Exxon used to sponsor the Universe of Energy. That doesn't mean I want a FedEx Kinkos and an Exxon convenience store in the park.

Depends completely on how individuals look at it. However, again, I feel the need to point out that Disneyland started out loaded with outside retail stores. Some that no amount of imagination would be able to figure out why they were in a theme park. (a store that sold Piano's and another that sold Bra's) But, they were and it doesn't matter why they were there, they were there. This is hardly anything new. But, I can understand to some degree the reasoning behind the objection to Starbucks. It just that it doesn't hold up when looked at in reality. And this is from someone that absolutely hates coffee and hate even more how they are able to justify charging what they do for hot water run through ground up beans.

With that in mind, perhaps the fact that Disney and Starbucks prescribe to the same method of profit margin, they are a natural fit.

Who said anything about dealing in reality? I'm at Disney World.

WE NEVER SAID IT WAS THE END OF DISNEY AS WE KNOW IT!!! Also most of us don't mind changes, improvements, or Starbucks , or any other corporate sponsors at all , BUT we do mind them taking the rest of all the many old loved baked goods etc (Starbucks goods are not nearly as yummy and fresh), and seating away from the "bakery" that's all!!! Geeezzzzzzzz !!!! :cautious:
I don't know why everyone goes crazy for disney baked goods, they are usually dry with no flavour except the taste of sugar.the new starbuck's locations give us a great option for breakfast in the parks.we order breakfast sandwiches instead of a lump of sugar and walk up to the noodle station and enjoy our breakfast with a great view of the park.

I don't understand why some people are so upset that Starbucks has a presence in the parks. I could understand it if each location had a huge fifty foot marquee overhead, but the signage (at least at DL and DCA) is pretty understated and non-intrusive. And frankly I prefer Starbucks coffee over the Nescafe swill that they used to serve.

No the original MSB goods were always hot, moist, delicious and nothing like what is offered now and offered at Gaston's!!! The MSB the crumb cake and Cinnamon Roll 2 of our faves were always fresh and warm NEVER DRY!!! Also they had hot sandwiches there you could get as well that were far surperior to ANY Starbucks sandwich etc. I do not know what you ate at the ORIGINAL bakery but we had been many times and NEVER had anything dry and tasteless. Also Starbucks I can get at home down the street. MSB goods that we loved the many they had I cannot get something just as good at home so it was a treat while at Disney we looked forward to. And yet again GASTON's cinnamon rolls are NOT THE SAME OR EVEN CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL!!! and all the other goodies the bakery used to have most you cannot find anywhere else in the parks either. :)

LAST POST ABOUT THIS ISSUE IN PARTICULAR BECAUSE MOST NO ONE EVER UNDERSTOOD THIS POINT BEFORE AND JUST THOUGHT STARBUCKS WAS OUR PROBLEM AND ITS LIKE BEATING A DEAD HORSE LOL!! ,Yet again not upset we just were upset they REMOVED ALL ASPECTS OF MSB that people LOVED!!! Now besides some cupcakes and cookies in a small corner all other products are Starbucks lackluster baked goods. Lol. If they never took away the MAB as we knew it most of us would have never had a problem with Starbucks being there. Starbucks is welcome just don't change the beloved items the MSB had. All other locations we did not lose really anything we could not live without. Lol. Again STARBUCKS IS NOT THE PROBLEM IT WAS REMOVING THE MSB AS IT WAS THAT WAS THE PROBLEM!!! Lol :)
