Star Wars Weekends 2014

I have a feeling that today will be on the mild side of nucking futs. Come Saturday...may whatever god you believe in have mercy on your soul.;)

I am not short (slightly above average height), but I am still a very small framed gal who looks a lot younger than my age. I was at the curb in front in a shady spot last Friday to see John R. in the parade, and at the end I was grabbed from behind by a total jerk who was very big and very tall; he pulled me back against him then wrapped his arms around me and put his camera in front of my face so he could get a picture of daggone Darth Vader (not even of John or another celeb). I screamed for him to get off of me and tried to get away from him, and he immediately took off running into the crowd and disappeared. To say I was upset and shaken up was an understatement. I didn't know what was happening at first, if I was being mugged or what.

People go absolutely psycho over a parade. Insane. To all with enough guts to brave Mark Hamill weekend, God bless you is all I can say.

Any word on the autograph situation today? I'm hoping more people are interested in staking claims to see MH in the parade or show than getting FP's for BDW's signature. I really don't think I can take a replay of this past Sunday where I missed out on FO's for JR, was first in the walkup line for all 3 signings but walked away with nothing.

I hope you contacted security. D-bag doesn't just need to get trespassed, needs to spend some quality time with Orange County.

I pretty much agree. Great FP+ view for FOF. But the view of the Motorcade for the Feel the Force package wasn't good at all. You could have had a better view lining up along the main street. As for the fireworks, I found I had to ask if I could share a table. Usually, I get a "yes", if begrudgingly. But it did give access to "free" desserts and especially "free" alcohol. That was probably the best deal of all. Outside of the package, those drinks run about $14-$15 each. For my view of the fireworks, I backed up against a recycle container so I wouldn't be blocking anyone else. But because of the close proximity to the stage, it didn't make for a grand epic view. It would be like standing directly next to Cinderella's castle and looking up at the fireworks. You're going to miss the full effect of the fireworks because you're too close to the castle. The same with the stage here.

I'll mostly agree with you and @lebeau. I got to the reserved area for the parade about 30 minutes before the parade started and there was no way to get a good view. The reserved area was really barebones, it was basically a roped off area with an ice cream cart in the back. The fireworks dessert party is what really made this worth it, at least for me. We got there about an hour or so before the fireworks and like everyone else has stated, there were no available tables. We had no problem leaning against a railing and setting our drinks on the ground as we sampled all of the desserts. The alcoholic drinks were strong and unlimited and the desserts were good. It was nice to be able to enjoy DJ/Dance Party with plenty of elbow room.

For the fireworks I stood all the way to the front of the area closet to the stage and all the way to the left. There didn't seem to be anyone else standing there with us but it was a great view of the fireworks. When you are all the way to the left, you can clearly see around the stage to the GMR.

I would have no problem spending the $54 again next year for the dessert party alone.

Interesting observation. For those who are attempting to see Mark Hamill via standby, they gave out wristbands to the people went to the standby line at 8 o'clock in the morning.

So if you are looking to get in here, and you do not have a fast pass, you may attempt at your own risk. Or watch in the American Idol theater or any of the other viewing locations around the park.

I should have. I hope and pray he didn't do anything like that to anyone else.

I looked around for the CM who had been standing nearby on and off and they were nowhere to be found. I wanted to get a closer up picture of John at the stage, so then I just walked over there shaking and ready to cry. I think I was partly in shock. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before, not in Disney or anywhere. I didn't even get a look at his face, just the back of his head as he took off.

If I were a drinker, I would probably give the party a thumbs up. The one drink I sampled was strong. But since I'm not a drinker, it didn't appeal to me all that much. When it was spilled, I decided not to replace it.

I suspect if we had asked others to share their tables, we probably could have gotten a begrudging "yes". We had just eaten at 50s Prime Time a couple of hours earlier. So I wasn't all that hungry anyway. It just wasn't worth it to me to force myself on strangers who clearly did not want to share their table just to eat some mini-cupcakes.

There was definitely fun to be had at the dessert party. The girls had a lot of fun dancing leading up to the fireworks. And we all enjoyed the desserts we sampled. My wife enjoyed a drink. My frustration comes from the fact that with a few minor changes, it could have been a great deal. But as it stands, it was debatable whether or not it was worth the money.

The motorcade is really a no win situation. There is no way to reserve spots for that many people without upsetting a lot more people. I see that basically as a bonus tacked on to the dessert party. But even so, they should have managed it better than they did.

The dessert party was almost worth the price of admission for me. I can definitely see where it would be worth it to others. I just lost my taste for alcohol in my twenties. So the drinks were of little value to me and they were clearly the big ticket item. You have to eat a lot of mini cupcakes and Mickey bars to make up $50. But the elbow room at the fireworks was nice.

I had read about the best place to view both the parade and fireworks beforehand. So like you, we were all the way to the left. We had kind of a skewed view of the stage, but we could still see everything. We could also see around it for a very good view of the fireworks. Most people were crammed into areas where their view had to be obstructed by trees or the stage.

Honestly, I doubt I will attend another Star Wars Weekend. So the question of whether or not the FTF Package is worth it is moot for me. This was a one time shot most likely. And it was a mixed bag to say the least.

So does this mean you either have a choice of watching his show or his appearance in the motorcade?

The quick final thought.

Today was nowhere near the disaster that was predicted. Crowds were smaller by my observation, Especially right now for fireworks time.

Mark Hamill was fantastic. There were accommodations for people to be able to see his show anywhere in the park.

Best day here so far.

Just talked to my son - he didn't go to SWW today, because he thought tomorrow would be more fun. I believe I mentioned before that he is crazy.
