I'll be totally honest... this ride and the Star Wars Hotel both have me concerned. First of all, RotR is an absolute disaster behind the scenes in regards to reliability. There are so many questionable systems in place, that I can easily see this ride opening to 50% uptime. Then, on top of that, this ride was written by the Lucasfilm Story Group, and I'm terribly pessimistic that their script is going to be well-received by Star Wars fans. Additionally the Star Wars Hotel's pricing is just way, way too high. It may be filled for a few months, but Disney needs to recognize they're in trouble with this franchise and start making impactful changes.

This is in total contrast to Epcot, where I think they're mostly making fantastic decisions (I really want to know who the SSE project lead is first though).

I'm going to echo the up-time concerns, though I remain optimistic as both rides have what, 4/5 months to get it together? I'd like to think that's more than enough time to get things working. I'm less concerned with the story problems. I'm sure we'll still have the standard ST character complaints, but other than that, I'm going to figure once riders are face to face with a couple dozen Storm-Troopers, AT-ATs and Kylo Animatronics that all will be okay. I don't want to start an argument on the various movie's merits; all I have to say is everyone loves a good action scene -- and it seems like this ride will have plenty of those.

I am perplexed by the size frothing at the mouth. Everyone is saying how amazingly huge the hangar is. Add in a large 2 story room with AT-ATs inexplicably standing still in it (is there a HUGE door they came through?), like 6 elevators, and perhaps an end scene that is also 2 stories. That's a lot of space in only a couple scenes in the ride. Yeah, the building is huge, but a LOT of the space is used in a pretty small amount of the ride and a lot in the queue.

Folks were quoting 7-8 minutes for the ride, which I never believed. I hope the hanger isn't a sort of a PT Barnum facade.

The August 13 article by Al Lutz on Mice Chat titled "Promising the Moon" (not sure if I can link to it here) has a nice map of the ride. Assuming this is accurate, you can see that the hanger bay is only about a third (to quarter) of the huge building. The AT-ATs are in the room marked "I" in the bottom-right of the building. And I suppose the rest of the scenes is over two stories, so quite a lot of room.

So people aren't allowed to be excited for anything anymore unless you say it is okay?

You do know that the Lucasfilm Story Group doesn't actually write stories, right? They assist writers and content creators by giving historical reference and suggestions within story canon. The LSG has become the boogeyman for entitled fans whining over not getting their own personal desires spoon fed to them.

We will be in WDW thanksgiving week through Saturday November 30th. With RotR opening Dec 5th, I am hoping for soft openings while we are there. I just missed the Galaxy's Edge previews/opening as we were there up until last weekend. Luck has to be on my side eventually, right?

Like any new ride, it will have downtime. Like any new innovative ride, it may have more then some had before. It will all be fine, and it will impress.

I've long felt that the real ride portion (not the shuttle, not the hangar, nor the standing in detention cells) will move by as quickly as any modern era ride. It will just use up a huge amount of space doing it.

Gone are the days when you could hope for RotR's ride to be as long as 20 Mr. Toads because you could fit 20 Mr. Toads inside it. I'm expecting Indy-type of efficiency of space, with the AT-AT room being comparable to the cauldron of bubbling death / suspension bridge room.

Music reserved for dramatic moments in the attractions. Natural soundscapes for the land. WDI got it right.

I agree. You want the goosebumps to happen, but need to do it effectively to achieve it and not desensitize/over use. I think this attraction will give the fans the music they want to hear, raise hairs on their arms, and allow the rest of the world around them to live in a more realistic soundscape.

I’ve been pretty vocal about wishing for more Star Wars music in the land. But in hindsight, I think you’re right about where the music should be. They made the right call on this imo. I still wouldn’t mind street musicians and probably some form of Star Wars inspired music in the shops/restaurants which I think could work too, but the land itself is better the way it is. Looking forward to seeing how they use music on RotR.

How refreshing to see someone admit that perhaps this artistic choice was correct. I agree, if they can add a bit more in subtle ways it won't hurt.

I read that, and recall being fairly shocked at how few scenes were on the first floor. I think there was load, the first scene, the AT-ATs and the finale. That means the upper level may only have 4 or 5 scenes too, for a total of maybe 10 including the elevators. Which will likely put the ride solidly in the 4 minute area, which is very typical for new rides. Again, not a bad thing, but just another reality check for the "the ride's full of sparks and is 7 minutes long" folks.

The Hyperbole flows through this ride.
