Opinion question. Obviously these opening crowds are what Disney was expecting back in September. Especially with the extra extra magic hours. If that hurricane didn’t happen, would these current crowds have been there back in September? And would these current crowds be lighter now? Seems like the EEMH would have been super helpful this time around. I kind of feel bad for all the CMs,
working the extra hours back then when they really weren’t needed and now, essentially having no choice but to open extra early again.

The crowds would have been higher if it weren't for the hurricane but not like this. They needed RotR and a complete land to draw crazy crowds like this.

They open the turnstyles at 8:15 am for a 9 am open at AK.
FoP will start running anytime from 8:30 - 8:45 am which is before open.

Some country bumpkin or city slicker who strolls in at 8:45 am thinking they are early is in for a rude awakening as the line will already be at 2-4 hours.

They have been doing this for years, have you ever raised that as an issue to complain about?
Flight of Passage has never closed the line early for “capacity”, let alone reached capacity before the park even opened or shortly after it opened. The FoP rope drop people are only battling for a shorter wait, but still have the entire day to queue up. Not the same situation.

No more boarding groups for the day per sign.

New to the board. Trip to Disney over the crazy busy period coming up. Planning to be at Hollywood Studios 2-3 hours early but wondering if everyone in our group of 9 will need to be in line or can a few stay in line and the others chill/sleep in the van in the parking lot? Our magic bands are linked already.

Do you physically have to be in the park to get the boarding pass or can you get that from the parking lot (assuming it is all electronic)?
Yes. Everyone has to scan in.

You’re anecdote about your friend was that he got a boarding pass but had to “wait” 12 hours yesterday. So he was able to ride, just was complaining about “waiting”

now you are trying to move the goal posts.
No, I'm not. Disney has created a situation where even 30 minutes before the park opens, the passes are for the end of the night, or nearly gone. Not only is this completely unfair when they are officially posting that the park opens at 8:00, and anyone not following this situation online would think 7:30 is a completely reasonably early enough time to arrive, but this is not at all the same as your FoP example in which everyone has always been able to queue up all the way to park closing. It doesn't matter if someone isn't early enough for the Flight of Passage rope drop. They still get to ride it if they want to. My issue is not with waiting, it's about unfairly not even being given the opportunity to wait. In line, or "virtually".

Just to clarify.
Was your friend able to ride yesterday even though friend “waited” 12 hours?
Yes, they were. I guess that makes it okay that everyone that showed up today after 7:45 (mind you, they may have parked at 7:15, taken the tram, and had a long bag check line),15 minutes before the park even officially opened, will not get to a chance to ride?
