Rope drop used to regularly occur before park opening, ask Lentesta, every version of the guide stressed getting to the park 60-90 minutes early for that possibility. Obviously this is a little different because you get shut out of the experience if you aren’t there prior to announced open time, but let’s not pretend Disney hasn’t played with entrance times forever as they gauge the crowd levels.

My party was in the park by 730 yesterday, got group 66, got in line at 430, sat through the 60ish minute downtime in the queue where Disney went out of their way to keep us happy with snacks/entertainment CMs, and eventually got off the ride just after 630. It’s absolutely the best attraction in Orlando and I think it’s being managed about as well as can possibly be expected given the rush to open a ride that clearly needed more time and stress testing prior to an official opening date.

Friends who got there today at 6am and got Boarding Group 58 are not riding until late afternoon. They finally left and said they “may” return later.

It is not lying. DHS was open at 8am when they announced. You just have to realize that the opening time is "Open by" and the closing time is "at least until". No one has complained when they rope dropped early at DHS anytime in the past.
Its not like you hear people saying "I stood outside the gates and waited even though everyone else was going in" or complaining at park closing that all you have to do is get in the line for FOP 1 minute before park close and you get to ride. This works both ways, it is just compounded by demand exceeding supply

Disney isn’t lying per say, it’s a miscommunication and rapidly changing environment issue. Plus this is a land based on Star Wars, Disney is telling the truth from a certain point of view
No. They flat out lied to guests. Cast Members, hand outs, flyers, signs and even official Disney Parks replies on Twitter stated a certain time but then they released it early with no guest communication.

So did non-EMH guests even get a chance to check in today? It sounds like no, or very few. Imagine preventing any of your non-resort guests from even having a chance. Imagine people still not getting to check in even though they still showed up well before Disney suggested they showed up. Absolutely abysmal guest service. They honestly should have just cancelled DHS EMH and should probably cancel it for the next two months.

Yes - non-EMH were allowed in at 7:18, but all boarding groups were gone by 7:45

That’s what the app, signs and actually “spieling” CMs are for.
So if the CMs were told at 7:15 when the decision was made to open the boarding groups, they should have been on the PA system making announcements and running around changing the signs? How would that seem like less of a lie to you?

It was the truth at the time it was published.
So you stick to published information and don't change it randomly literally right before it was scheduled to happen.

I'd imagine that some EMH guests that were IN the park didn't even get to check in, because they probably didn't even think to open the app until 8:00 - AKA the time Disney TOLD them. Oops! All the passes were gone by 7:40!
