News Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance Standby Line and Boarding Groups at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Today was my first ride. First, it was amazing. Nothing like it out there, and definitely worth the early rise.

We got there at 5:45. The line was backed up go near security when they started letting us in. At 7:00 I got in boarding group 14. The person next to me got in 64 even though we signed up at the same time. I guess it's just luck.

We were called at 7:20, and got in line around 7:30. They had to evacuate us from the line and gave us multiple experience passes. We rode Slinky Dog and TSM while waiting, then got on after having a snack.

Second try went perfectly. I loved the ride so much, and I'm so glad we got to experience it.

Also, crowds were much lighter than I expected. We rode everything with fastpasses several times. Usually close to back to back. Was a perfect day

Doesn’t look like they’re reopening tonight. Kind of a shame after a nice day overall. 152 was the last group called, though it doesn’t seem like they made it on.

We left HS around 8:40 to go back to Epcot for the fireworks. The CMs up front were still very optimistic about it, therefore we doubted it would go back up.

It sucks for the hundred(s) of people waiting in front of the entrance waiting for it to reopen.. Sad we weren't able to ride it today, but there's always another day...hopefully

The CM's blocking the entrance did ask us if our BG was called yet, and if so go to Guess Services. We were 156, and they stopped at 154 before breaking down. Therefore we couldn't really do anything.

However I would imagine GS gave some fastpasses, or most likely a park hopper ticket to others as they already committed to calling your group, even though you were never guaranteed to ride that day. To put it, say my family and I were called and we were in Epcot at the time. So we take the time to hop over to HS with news that we can finally ride RoR, just to find out that we are not be able to ride. So it's a fair compensation, if that's what they did.

I do wish they state in the MDE app that the ride is down. All it says that it's still boarding, even though the ride is clearly down. It's just making unnecessary confusion and a bottleneck in front of the ride entrance as people flock to "finally" ride RoR.

Okay but in your scenario (with EMH open with BG’s ahead of time, before normal park open) the family with the kids still aren’t showing up early anyway. That argument loses its drive right there.

I got my 8 year old up at 4:00am to get on this ride. We rode it twice. There were others his age too there.. if you want it bad enough you will find a way.

Just switched to backup boarding groups - 8:30am.

We had access to a car so we drove. Front Desk told us bus service started at 6.

Honestly, Minnie Van is the only reasonable choice if you want to get there quickly and don't have a car.

We used Meyers (sp?) from pop and it was under ten bucks compared to 30
For the van.

I think they haven’t been showing that number until all the backups are distributed, for whatever reason. 9:30am on Christmas and backups still available.

Ah yes, that's what I'm missing! They are usually gone soon enough and I didn't even think about that. Thanks!

Heya question on the boarding groups ... when I enter the park can I get boarding pass for everyone in my group like a fastpass or does each person have to do it individually on their device ?

Works just like a FastPass. You choose who to add to the BG with you. But they have to be in the park for you to be able to add them.
