Star Wars Rise of the Resistance Discussion

I want to be very excited for this ride. Keeping my fingers crossed it blows us away. Wish it was OT but if the ride is awesome I can forgive it on that aspect.
The type of ride they go with and the time it is unveiled determines most of what the net effect is gonna be for the rider. There are “ceilings” on what a ride can do. Star tours is the prime example...coolest IP ever - but they jerk you around in front of The screen. That’s 80’s glass ceiling.

This one appears to spin you and throttle you up and down on a trackless, but still fairly consistent course (that’s what a trackless does...and has to for ride capacity) and then puts that vehicle in a modified simulator harness that mimics a crash.

Sounds neat...but I fear lacks the actually physical forces needed to get it to “legendary” type ride. Very much like star tours when I came off that 29 or so years ago.

It sounds like it’s going to create such a great sense of scale that even if the rest of the attraction isn’t on the same level it won’t natter because the tone has been set. However we do know the AT AT scene will be huge.
So it’s “epic” while still under construction, ehh?

I wish I was WDI...people would just worship me 😉

I’m not sure I understand. Are you saying I worship WDI? If so, have you read any of my other posts?
No...I know you better than that.

I’m saying we should hold the superlatives until at least somebody rides the thing?

It’s a good rule...just a suggestion. I held reserve on the land till I saw it...and I liked it more than the reports would have lead me to believe. It was therapeutic 😎

Hahah.

Anyway I didn’t use the word “epic.” I said the first scene will set the tone and create a great sense of scale for the attraction even if the rest of the attraction is smaller rooms and hallways.

The pre-show definitely concerns me. I think the storm trooper and AT-AT reveals are going to be amazing. But if I have to be stuck in a room watching a hologram for 5 minutes every time before I get there...

James Bond is a terrible example because it's not exactly age-appropriate for a ten year old to be super familiar with in the first place.

I loved watching James Bond movies when I was a kid. Every time he was on the ABC movie of the week, I watched if I could. I also once went to a Thunderball/You Only Live Twice double feature when I was 9 maybe?

ABC did put a warning in front of it though, haha.

It's not just a hologram, it's the flight into space and capture.

For the sake of clarification, the chief reason for the delay of the ride is issues with the trackless vehicle, correct? I gather there may be other problems.

I think so. The ride area feels weirdly done, like someone forgot to let the guests in. There really is no external signs of work going on at all.

Especially with the WDW version having people touring through.

I assume there is some sort of part or programming that Disney is stuck waiting for. The Trackless vehicles have been pointed to. Perhaps @marni1971 can elaborate again.

After they do the last Bond with Daniel Craig. They might be doing a female Bond.

They tried to do a female spinoff years ago with Halle Berry.

The appeal of Bond is that he's a playboy spy who drives cools cars, kills people, travels to exotic places, performs over the top stunts, uses ridiculous gadgets and bags absurdly gorgeous women in the most unlikely of circumstances.

The one with Pierce Brosnan in it. It's called Die Another Day.
