Star Wars not so popular or changes already being made?

Then you would be in the minority.
Negative. Read the Trip Reports section. I havent read them all but Ive read enough to get a baseline and I havent read one in which the primary reason for going was because of SW. A majority are more excited for RoL.

I know several people who have visited this year and my sister may visit in November (which I may tag along). None of them have expressed that they were going strictly for Star Wars.

Capital expenditure for Facebook in FY 2014 was $1.8 billion. Captial expenditure for Cisco in FY 2014 was $1.275 billion.

I'm not a business person but I think 1.8 billion is a bigger number than 1.275 billion.

Do you know WHY Cisco's capex is so low this year, Wait for it Wall St was unhappy that Cisco was investing so much in HARDWARE they were forced to lay off much of their Hardware development staff, So Cisco could become a SOFTWARE company, Guess the Wall Street Ideal is for Cisco to write OpenFlow code that runs on cheap chinese switch platforms sourced from random factories.

Well it will be interesting when Huawei takes over the hardware market because they only answer to the Chinese Communist Party, Not Wall St. And personally I'd rather listen to the CCP as it's occasionally rational not motivated only by the next quarter numbers.

Why would the primary reason for going be SW before SWL opens????? I though that is what you were talking about.

Doesn't seem like a good reason to book a multi-thousand dollar trip to me. And I LOVE Star Wars. I think TFA should have won Best Picture(not joking). But I would never schedule a trip based around something so low key.

The #1 reason? Look, Im a HUGE Star Wars fan and Im very excited for SWL. But I dont feel that the SW Galactic Show and the M&G's are worthy of being the #1 reason to book a trip.
Yes. I had to cut back our already booked trip from 15 days to 10. I gave my 6 year old son the choice between the DCL Fantasy or WDW. He asked if the Fantasy would have Star Wars characters, I replied "no". He said "OK, so we'll go see the new Star Wars stuff now and do the cruise next year."

Out of the 15 families we are close to who have gone from spring break to earlier this month, and all have kids in his age range, every one of them have came back talking about Stormtroopers and Kylo Ren.

Our neighbor just got back 2 weeks ago, he told my son that he is a "real Jedi now" and can teach him how to be one. I know that JTA isn't new, but we arrived too late for sign ups last year, so that played a factor as well.

Either way it was a multi thousand dollar trip.lol. It's not the sole reason we are going, this was a Christmas themed trip regardless of DCL or WDW, and we are both excited for the Christmas themed offerings, but it's the main reason that my kid chose the parks when faced with choosing only 1.

See above.

Talking about what they enjoyed on their trip is not the same as being the "#1 reason" they went. Did those children mention anything else they enjoyed about their trip? Im sure if any of them have daughters, then FEA was a bigger hit than Star Wars for them.

Im sure any 6 yr old would place higher emphasis on theme parks over a cruise. But regardless, your son knew he was going on a cruise and to the parks so it wasnt exactly a tough choice. Tell him that the SW M&G will not be open while you are there, and Ill bet dollars to doughnuts he would still want to go to WDW.

So is 1.8 billion not bigger than 1.275 billion? Because that's what you said:

The reason of course is Cisco requires massive capital expenditure with no guarantee of a return, Facebook just collects cash and routes it to Wall St it's not an expensive company to run as it has virtually no capital requirements.

I was responding to your post in which you stated, "you are in the minority". I thought you were saying I was in the minority of people who are not booking a trip primarily because of the new SW M&G and Show. Sorry if I misunderstood what you were saying

I don't think it is the #1 reason that they went. I do know that it is the #1 reason that my son made the choice that he did.

I was actually shocked by his choice. He's been asking to go on the Disney Cruise and the "cool slide" (aquaduck) since last Christmas. We have read books about all of the places we were visiting and he was really into it. At that point I hadn't told him we were going on the exact dates yet..just that we would go "sometime". So when he chose WDW I definitely didn't expect that answer.

I present your prior statement....
That's the truth. I'll say it again- Star Wars is the Number One reason that my son chose a WDW visit over a DCL Fantasy Western Caribbean.
Trust me, it would have saved me a bit of money if he would have picked DCL..it was after my final payment and I lost a decent chunk bc of the cancellation. I don't know if I would have asked him if I would have known his response lol. We are doing a cruise to Alaska in June (not on DCL) and the Fantasy next year the same dates as we were supposed to this year.. Bc of that I didn't push the cruise. We won't be at the parks in 2017, or he won't be anyway, I'm hoping to sneak down for F&W with my new AP. ;)

Better way to have phrased it would've probably been it was the number one reason you chose it over the DCL trip, but I get your point. Considering that DCL would also be a Disney-themed vacation, it would make sense that Star Wars would be the number one deciding factor.

Ok, so its the #1 reason "your son chose to visit". Playing it fast and loose with your original assertion in which you used your trip as an example that families are planning trips to WDW strictly due to a SW M&G and night time show. Either way, I hope you have an AWESOME trip and I look forward to hearing about it. Im sure your son will have a blast meeting Kylo and the other characters.

I only referenced my family as the reason we are going, but I see how the "# 1" could have been unintentionally misleading. The reason for mentioning our friends and family is bc their 'trip reports' have hyped him up for sure.

I'm heart broken that we won't see the night time show..but I am excited for the holiday show and dessert party...trying to remain optimistic with that..lol. Thank you!

I think that Star wars wont be so popular. Lucas is no longer on the movie, so that's another story. I think, to make a new series of this film is a big mistake. However, everyone wants money and people will come for the new movies, but others, not real fans.
I wouldn't consider Lucas being removed from the equation a bad thing, quite the opposite actually. The prequels were a mess and he decided to royally screw up the originals with his constant new edits every time they released it on a new medium. I'm iffy about the spin-offs, but considering that there were 9 original episodes, the mainline films aren't exactly a "new series of this film," rather they are a completion of it, and a completion without the meddling of George Lucas is most definitely a good thing. Sometimes the best option is to get new directors/writers in to revitalize a series. Lucas was the sole writer and director for Episodes I, II (He had a cowriter for II), and III, and looked how they turned out.
