Star Wars Land Announcement This Month?

I think they'll wait and see what the reaction to the new Star Wars film is before they announce any plans for the parks, because if SW7 is wildly successful they'll want the attractions to relate to and capitalize on that, but if SW7 is gets the same reaction as the prequels, they'll probably want to theme the park attractions more around the original trilogy

Those are my thoughts as well. Star Wars land is coming to Disney parks but to what scale we don't know until 2016 I am sure.

I honestly do not care if we get SW-land or Pixarland... Either way - HS is in need of a major overhaul like DCA received.

Two weeks ago when we were there, we tried to do a full day at HS, even seeing every attraction, it wasn't possible. It was kind of sad.
And you have so many one and done attractions there, it doesn't help much.

This year on my past trip, I was waiting in the fast pass line of Toy Story. A cast member, with a checkered vest, was behind us with 3, I am guessing, 12-15 year old kids. We were listening in when one of the kids asked about a new Star Wars expansion. The Cast Member said, despite the rumors, the plan is to have Star Wars prevalent in each of the four parks and not just one.

I know this is just a cast member, however, this is the answer that I think makes more sense. I am guessing we will see a Star Wars ride in every park eventually. In MK, most likely thing would be to replace Stitch with some type of Star Wars attraction.

While it might turn out to be true, my experience is that cast members generally don't know what they're talking about from a future state perspective.

I love Disney cast members and make a point to talk with them. However, I think they try too hard to give insider knowledge because I think they want to believe they know more than they actually do.

I've been told so many conflicting things by cast members that I've concluded they are just being friendly and speculating along with the rest of us...which I welcome.

I do think they find out stuff once it gets closer to reality, but that's consistent with any organization. You find out pretty much at the end.

If there are no major lines , I'm done in 1/2 a day tops. Ride TS:MM 1x or 2x. Ride ToT 1x. Ride Rockin' Rollercoaster 1x. Great Movie Ride 1x. Muppets 3D 1x. Star Tours 2-3x dependent on line. At that point , use the park-hopper and go get drunk in EPCOT
I can honestly say I do not ever feel like I need to do anything there. All the parks have at least one thing I need to do.

I agree with you. When Disney's top executives are planning new rides and park details, I am certain cast members are not sitting around the round table listening in to the strategies.

What struck me here is that this cast member said NO to star wars land. With the way some cast members like to strum up rumors, you would think this cast member would have told the kids yes instead, just to keep the kids excited. The kids actually pouted when they were told no.

IMO, Star wars land in just one park, would be way to overcrowded. I think it would be a lot better to spread it around. Also, people should forget about any "lands". I don't think Disney wants to copy something Universal does.

I can't get over how often I read people acting like Universal is in the drivers seat with their Potter stuff.

Let's get real...Universal is doing some nice things and Disney DOES need to step up their game, but Universal is still far behind.

Disney is still king of content and even if they take their sweet time with Star Wars, the content is already better.

Harry Potter just sucks.

We get it, you don't like Universal. You need anger management I think.

Haven't you never expressed the same views in multiple threads over the course of time? I'm sure you have. We all essentially repeat the same opinions in different forms if we feel strongly about them. That's what this board is all about. I don't ask myself, "Now have I said something like this before?" I don't need to.

The posts are not angry, although I can turn it up if you'd like.

I'll say it again for emphasis. Harry Potter sucks.

Disney Content >>>>>>>> Universal

No offense, but I think the backlash happens because you come off as someone who blindly believes everything that Disney creates is automatically great, and everything everyone else creates is terrible. You may not really believe that, but it's how it comes across in your messages.

Yep that's the big problem IMHO with DHS. A lot of the attractions are stuff that don't have great repeatibility. DHS has plenty for a new person to the park to occupy their time and has some rides that are great to go on repeatedly, but needs more attractions that warrant repeats every park visits (or multiple times a day).

I don't buy the rumor at all. That said, I think another possible location would be using Laugh Floor's space, especially since there is an expansion pad behind it that can be used for a very large scale project (I think the Tron bike coaster was planned to go in that location at one point).

I have, but I don't recall saying that either brand "sucks" Not even after the crap fest that our last trip to WDW turned in to. And it's funny how you say "That's what this board is all about" when it's also about talking about other brands yet you kvetched about people doing that very thing in the Disney/Uni or both thread.....

Again, we get it, you don't like Universal. But to say that it sucks is ludicrous and almost worthy of involuntary commitment to your nearest mental health facility.

I have to disagree with part of your sentiment. I think WDW has more to offer, in terms of the number of attrations and number of parks, but I also think that for people in certain demographics (young couples with no kids, for example) Uni actually offers a different experience from WDW. The coasters there are bigger and more thrilling. There's a better balance of kid-geared versus adult-geared attractions.

And, I'm sorry; I love Disney with a passion, but I just can't agree with your statement that HP "just sucks." I read your comments on it in the other thread, and what stood out to me was that you referenced the movies. The books are oh so much better, and in fact I plan to read them all over again in the next couple of weeks because it's one of my favorite series. Maybe I like the movies more because they take me back to different parts of the books? IDK... FJ wasn't my favorite ride ever, but even so... kind of a harsh statement to say the entire franchise sucks IMO.

Disney just opened one ride. Uni is opening a ride, a train that connects the two parks and can be viewed as another ride in itself, and a whole area around the ride. If that's not a big jump for one season, I don't know what is. Perhaps Disney still has more in terms of quantity of attractions over their parks, but this is a pretty decent stretch for Uni.

I'm really not looking for affirmation from others on my opinions.

I've also said Disney and Universal aren't directly comparable because Disney doesn't do a lot that isn't family/kid oriented. Perhaps they should and could do more, but that's a different discussion.

Universal wishes it had the Disney reach. They are trying to catch up. Unfortunately for us, Disney is in a tough spot. They have record crowds, profit, and foot traffic but they are getting long in the tooth in some areas. They need to update, expand, and prepare for the future. I have been super critical of Disney in this respect. Universal is admittedly newer and more nimble, but they'll always lose the content battle. They'll always lose the Princess battle. They'll lose the nostalgia and family battle. There are incredible parks all over the world with incredible rides, but they aren't Disney.

I simply think many here are too hard on Disney for not taking a page out of Universal's book. For example, 7DMT was critiqued endlessly for being a disappointment, but I think Disney hit it on the head. Could it be more thrilling? Sure, but this isn't Universal. It's perfectly designed for kids and families, as intended.

Disney need not rest on their laurels, but Universal isn't this holy grail of theme parks. I don't even want to go because I can't relate to it. I'm obviously not the only one.
