Tell that to Mark Hamill who still doesn’t like what they did.

The guy who once saw the good in his father where no one else could see any left (even Obi Wan and Yoda) brought to his knees because of his nephew. And his father committed way worse crimes.

Please spare me.
It’s perfectly reasonably to not like what they did with the character. That’s not the same thing as saying the character was destroyed.

You know, Luke saw good in his father and as it turned out, there actually was good in him.

And as we’ve seen as a plot point in the last two movies Kylo still feels a pull to the light. How did Luke not sense that and just give up instead?

Because Snoke was manipulating Kylo while training under Luke, thus it's no stretch to think that's what Luke was seeing in Kylo's mind. We know that Snoke had the power to connect people's minds through the Force over great distances.

The map is officially acknowledging SWGE's existence:

Did they do this before putting in the actual map for Pandora and Toy Story Land? I don't recall them doing so, and I wonder why this would be different. Could they be expecting so much interest that they're planning to make the "map release" into its own announcement?

If Rey was able to sense it an experienced Jedi like Luke should’ve been able as well. Before you say “it was a trick by Snoke to fool Rey” let me remind you of the scene with Vader’s helmet in TFA where Kylo is alone speaking of his trouble with a pull to the light. Snoke was lying to Rey trying to say all of it was him including her sensing the light in Kylo. All he did was connect them. Kylo’s struggle is very real.

If you answer this by saying Rey is better than Luke at sensing, someone who would have about 30 years of experience with the Force over her single day at this point, then that just further proves how LucasFilm has no idea what they’re doing.

Where in my statement did I ever imply that Rey knew who was controlling this. Kylo says that he knows it's not Rey who is linking them together, that the effort would kill her. Rey was just as confused and didn't know what was going on (not much of a "Mary Sue" is she...) Rey had no idea it was Snoke who was manipulating and connecting their minds until he told her flat out in the Throne Room. But of course actually watching and paying attention to the movie seems a bit to difficult compared to just whining about how nothing makes sense...

And no, I wasn't going to answer that Rey is the stronger Jedi, because the film clearly showed how powerful Luke became before becoming one with the Force. But of course I assume you have a problem with that as well.

Some truly impressive and unauthorized aerial photography of the Disneyland version showed up today from the local Fox TV affiliate, amongst all the frenzy over the opening dates. Look at those X-Wing Fighters and various spaceships later in the video!!!

From about 1:35 to 1:50, a couple things struck me:
  • This video helps to show the sheer scale of the Millennium Falcon model (and the land in general). I'd say it's the best perspective we've gotten so far. You can see how small the person working on the front of the Falcon (red circle) is compared to the rest of the ship. And it takes upwards of 30 paces for the worker in the blue circle to walk past the full diameter of the Falcon. Plus, the group of workers (Imagineers?) in the orange vests on the left look like ants next to that turret.
  • Workers fixing things on the Falcon, other scurrying past and underneath, various bits of equipment strewn about... all it needs is Chewbacca on top of the Falcon soldering something and it really would be like something straight out of Star Wars.
And at 5:25 - Hello, friendly Imagineer! Yes, the rock work does look very impressive. Shame the spot where you're standing won't be ready in time for the grand opening. Maybe if you weren't on the phone so much...? Only kidding!

A couple other observations from that helicopter footage:

Looks like the TIE Echelon has an entry ramp in the back. Now I'm expecting Stormtroopers and First Order officers to enter/exit the ship.

And there was discussion a few days ago about whether Disneyland's cargo ship got fully themed or if it was mostly themed on one side like DHS'. This confirms it's mostly one side. And the first shot gives a better look into what the ramps/walkways leading up to the Falcon from the far side of Docking Bay 7 will be like.

And I never said that either. By “sense it” I have always been talking about Kylo’s struggle. Luke should’ve been able to see it as well.

And yes she is a Mary Sue. With absolutely no explanation as to why she’s done feats with the Force in a single day of knowing she could use it that others took time and training to accomplish. Remember, Luke could barely pull a Lightsaber in the beginning of ESB before going to Yoda. While training he had trouble with a few small rocks and couldn’t lift his X-Wing. Rey lifted a huge mass of boulders with seemingly no effort.

That was a cool trick at the end but that shouldn’t have been how he “died.” I was very disappointed when it revealed he wasn’t actually there. Maybe you think it’s fine, but many others disagree and wanted to see an actual fight involving Luke as an experienced Jedi.

I’m not going to comment on the whole debate but I can say I REALLY wanted to see this.

He did sense it, and in a very brief moment of fear, fear that all he had built and all he loved might be brought down by the Sith, thought that he could stop it. But it was his fear which like Yoda had said leads to the dark side that caused his world to fall. Which is what Snoke had wanted to happen. By twisting and seducing the "Prodigal Son" Ben Skywalker, Snoke brought about his revenge on the Jedi by exploiting the weakness of Luke, his proclivity to be impulsive. And it was in that moment of impulsiveness that he thought of using a lightsaber, a weapon that he had to cast aside in order to defeat the Sith at the end of Return of the Jedi, As a means of ending this new conflict. Hence Luke's rejection of the lightsaber (a extension of himself, the "Legend of Luke Skywalker") that Rey hands to him at the start of the film. A rejection that ends with Luke harnessing the Force in a way we have never seen before in order to keep the Rebels alive and by doing so restore the "Legend of Luke Skywalker" as shown by the kids at the end of the film telling his story...

I mean its like you didn't even watch the film.

Oh and as for
I was very disappointed when it revealed he wasn’t actually there. Maybe you think it’s fine, but many others disagree and wanted to see an actual fight involving Luke as an experienced Jedi.
