Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

We all have opinions and a right to hold them, but in my experience most people who dislike The Last Jedi have largely weak and nonsensical arguments for why.

I enjoy the prequel‘s as well, but I don’t think I could justify putting them above the last Jedi. Their stories are great it’s their execution that is poor. They’re just not well-made films.
...and in my experience those who criticize Last Jedi are accurate and 100% on point. We are both right. We both have heard the countless arguments from both sides and made up our minds. However the most important point is how you felt watching the film. You enjoyed Last Jedi and felt great watching it, I thought is was terrible and the movie felt wrong.
Is what it is. We aren't always going to enjoy the same movies.

We both agree to be excited about Galaxy's edge. Looks like Disney knocked it out of the park.

If JJ pulls this off and is able to make a satisfying completion to the Skywalker saga that began in Ep.1....He will be the man. I enjoyed TFA.
I just don't see how he can do it after the disaster that was the Last Jedi. He has his work cut out for him.
We shall see...at least we know the trailer will be awesome. I think this time I'll wait for the reviews from the fans on rotten tomatoes instead of trusting the professional movie critiques. Learned my lesson the hard way last time.
I am going to go predict that TLJ's standing among fans is going to increase over time (similarly to what happened with Empire Strikes Back, which was widely panned by fans following release, and is now considered by many to be the best Star Wars film...).

Give it a decade.

I think you will be proven correct. Most people I know in the real world who didn’t like TLJ the first time they saw it enjoy it more and more with repeated viewings. I understand some of the criticisms (there were definitely some shocking artistic choices made) but definitely really enjoy the movie and always have. I doubt that the amount of dislike for the film that’s out there will impact the success of Galaxies Edge.

What??? Empire was not wildly panned by fans. Not even close. I was there, we all were. That never happened. People were upset because it left you hanging. People wanted the questions of who Vader was, where did Han go? Remember? Yoda set the standard in puppetry, they even campaigned for Frank Oz to win an Oscar. John Williams score was magical and majestic from the Empires March to Yoda’s theme. People did say it was darker and younger kids might not like it as much as Star Wars in 77 but it was an Instant Classic right up there with Raiders of the Lost Ark.
It made(adjusted for inflation) $886,571,200.00. It was a crazy success... that was on par with Raiders success (799,547,300.00). It just didn’t hit the lighting in a bottle numbers of Star Wars 77... few movies have.

Again... Empire was an instant classic once it hit theaters. That is a fact.

Now... Last Jedi good in 10 years? All speculation. Guess it depends on ep.9 I guess. Didn’t people say that with phantom menace? I think if you like it you like it.... and if you hate it you hate it. It’s been 10 years since kingdom of crystal skull... do you love that movie now if you hated it back then? That’s a movie people ripped on when it was released.

Better comparison is kingdom of the crystal skull. Many people strongly disliked that movie when it came out. It’s been 10 years... do those people who hated it then love it now? Or is it still considered the worst of the 4?

Not really. Pretty much everyone disliked that one. Whereas with TLJ you have a very divided fanbase. Some hate it with a passion, others loved it.

I think the absolute best one is The Force Awakens. Of course, that could be because it is the only one that I have ever seen. That might have given it a lot more weight. Now that I think about it though, depending on what message I am trying to sell, it was also the worst one I have ever seen. Funny how that works.

Watch Rogue One next and then the 1977 movie and you'll be hooked.

Hollywood Studios will have similar capacity issues with Galaxy’s Edge, but is beginning to arrive on the opposite end of its identity crisis (kinda) - so I would also assume that whatever goes there in a few years will also speak to the newly defined intentions of the park. If I were a betting man I’d wager that a reskin of the simulators is more likely here, but it seems trickier to find an overlay that’s different enough from Star Wars to justify the change AND suitable to the themes of both the new DHS and (hopefully) new Tomorrowland. Star Wars was a unique property that could get away being placed adjacent to Space Mountain, the Indy Stunt Show AND Muppet Vision — and that really only worked when the more liberal “Working Studios” theme was in place.
I feel like they could do an Incredibles re-skin and it could work if done right. I also WISH they could get just the rights to Black Panther from Universal because a "Los Angeles Wakanda Outreach Center" would be SO GOOD and perfect with the ride system.

Just between you, me and thousands of other readers of WDWmagic, if I had an interest in Sci-fy I would have followed it from the beginning. I don't care what galaxy they happen to be in, how many light sabers they own or how much the force is with me. Yet, I still want to go to SWL, because it is a 3d/4d experience and I'm sure it will be entertaining. However, I will be 71 in just a few months and by the time it will be possible to see it without spending endless hours standing in line there is a very good chance of me making my own trip to a galaxy far, far away. That said, I can assure you that my last words will not be, damn I didn't get to see it.

Before everyone one gets into an intergalactic snit, I think it is fine that people have that obsession, there are far worst ones to have so don't take my personal view of the genre personally.

If anyone is wondering how I came to see 'Awakens', (which you shouldn't), I saw enough snippets of the originals to know the story line and I really wanted to see how they dealt with the return of Solo and Princess Leia. I didn't like the on screen demise of Solo, but, I thought that the overall movie it was handled seamlessly. Almost like they had been in ever single one. The unfortunate passing of Carrie Fisher pretty much ended the ability for the two of them to be involved ever again even in flash backs. Other actors, sure, but it just wouldn't have the same impact.
