DHS Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Not sure who gave you permission to think but they should be slapped. I did not ask for such a rude comment. Avatar and Star Wars is science fiction and does not peak my interest. Toy Story I do like, but the new area planned sounds to me like a couple of amusement park style rides and not a Disney Attraction.

AND amazingly enough, Disney parks have done just fine without Star Wars and Avatar; the phenomenon of Frozen alone has proven that Disney doesn't need non-Disney-generated IPs. A Pride Lands area in AK, a Disney Villains attraction in DHS - these concepts would have been hailed by the public just as much if not more than StarWarsLand :P . But Iger has little faith in actual Disney creations. The budgets were cut for both Mermaid and Mine Train; that's how much he thinks of real Disney and the public's love for it.

Again, all this Star Wars stuff is great for the fans, and I agree that a park that celebrates that creation is a good idea. I just wish it was happening at Universal - if anything, it would very likely be better done. And certainly is a better fit there than it is for a Disney Park.

If they had announced any of that stuff at D23, a front page story would not have been up on CNN within hours hailing the announcements of them, among other major news outlets. I haven't seen TSL mentioned much of anywhere but Disney-focused sites/blogs.

I think you have a rather skewed idea of what "the public" thinks. "The public" wouldn't even hear about those other attractions, let alone "hail" them. Star Wars may not be for you, but it's the #1 IP of all time, it essentially invented the entire idea of "franchise". Millions of people will flock to Disney parks who normally would not just to experience Star Wars.

There is absolutely not one thing Disney could realistically announce for their theme parks that could even come close to comparing to what this addition will add in attendance, merchandise sales, and resort stays.

Wow..... Sounds like BobbyC isn't familiar with talking to fans/guests/consumers. Sounds like he's talking to a group of executives, because normal people don't talk that way.

Know your audience, Bob. Know your audience.

Wait, are you implying that anyone in that audience at D23 is "normal"?

LOL, even as someone who has been a member of this site for over a decade, I think they are weirdos. ;)

Do not agree with that last part at all. I just returned from 10 down in Orlando. We actually visited Unimand IOA for the firet time , primarily to see the Wizarding World. Except for the Wizarding World, I was pretty disappointed with Uni/IOA. It felt so.... Ordinary. I never felt trnasported (again, except WW, which was great). One thing that super annoyed me is that i couldn't eide a lot of the rides... I'm too big. And I can ride every ride at Disney. The place just felt, i dunno, like a these park to me. I did like IOA better than Uni.

Star Wars fits in to DHS perfectly. Star Tours has never felt out of place. Disneyland? Not so much, but I understand why they want it there....

Well, kinda. This is taking it to a whole new level though. You'd think if they didn't like it they'd take their precious pesos to Universal.

What posts are you referring to? This is pretty much the most universally (no pun intended) praised thing I've ever seen on these forums. There are always a few "anti-Star Wars" types or "I wanted more!" types, but overall this has had a tremendous reaction.

There could have been one more ride for TSL but I'm really liking that Slinky coaster. Looks like fun. Almost makes up for it in my book.

Agreed. The length of it alone surprised me and it does look like it could be fun. I'm sure the Little Green Men ride will be as well and I've wanted a "Claw" type ride for Toy Story Land for the longest so they have me there. They've also got what looks to be cleverly hidden meet and greets for Buzz and Woody as well as likely some sort of version of Pizza Planet and Big Al's (again, I'm assuming here). It's really all I kind of wanted in that land. They clearly made an effort to have it be expansive and immersive. It's just not going to appeal to everyone. I didn't love it at first but it's grown on me a lot to where I'm now excited for it.

Maybe it's just nothing and wishful thinking but I'm convinced a Woody/Bullseye ride will go in next to his roundup set.
