I tried watching the cartoons, but the characters and writing just seemed like it was aimed at children. And for good reason, because it was. But I watched about 15 episodes and stopped because it felt like homework. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.
The problem I had with all of the cartoon characters in Clone Wars was that they never gave the general audience a reason to care about these characters. Fanbois were excited to see Ahsoka and the lady Mando, but if you were just meeting these characters in their live-action debut, you just didn't care.
Andor did far more. You don't need to watch Rebel One to enjoy Andor, it just is fantastic and features really great writing/directing/acting. You can't rely on previous stories, especially ones that were aimed at small audiences, to do the legwork for characters.
