Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

Disney has already brought back actors Ray Park and Jimmy Smits to reprise their prequel trilogy roles in some of these newer films. Definitely not as prominent as they were in the prequels, but they're still there. Also, Coruscant was seen briefly in TFA, and Mustafar briefly in Rogue One.

Edit: And how could I foolishly overlook Ewan McGregor coming back for the Obi-Wan series? Point being, there is plenty of evidence the prequel stories and characters still hold importance in Disney's Star Wars.
They have been a bit more open to it now. The main sequel saga has only had a single mention of anything prequel. And that was last Jedi when Luke calls the emperor Sidious. Coruscant wasn't in the force awakens. That was Hosnian prime, not Coruscant. Lending credence to their aversion. Why was it not Coruscant? Did they need to move/change what was the center of the galactic government? Nope. So the only real prequel bits are Maul in Solo. And Rogue one with Bail Organa and like you said, Mustafar.

Yes they are doing the Obi-Wan series. But remember, they couldn't pull the trigger on the movie and decided on Rouge one and Solo. They couldn't jump in with one of the most unanimously loved parts of the prequels, Ewan McGregors Obi-Wan. That is shying away from the prequels.

Coruscant was in Rogue One during the flashback to Jyn's childhood. Agreed that creating Hosnian as a new place made no sense in TFA since we had no personal attachment to it or even knowledge that it existed. Heck, if they wanted to distance themselves from the prequels, and the scene required them to blow up the planet, why NOT make it Coruscant? Win win.

IMO Jakku didn’t make sense either. No reason it couldn’t just be Tatooine for the few minutes we’re there. Could’ve also made a bit of a connection for Rey to tell Luke they’re from the same home planet instead of Luke joking about Jakku.

I didn't realize that wasn't Coruscant, but very curious like you said as to why they chose a different planet.

I think this is mostly because of people who grew up with the prequels becoming adults.

Exactly. The neckbeards hated them because they weren’t twelve anymore. Seeing ROTS with my 7 year old, and seeing the wonderment in his eyes when Darth Vader took his first breath, was every bit as amazing as seeing that helmet come off one last time when I was 14.

There were some amazing scenes in the prequel. Yeah, there was a bunch of political , and Jar Jar. But us old guys had whiny Luke, Leia with a British accent, and Ewoks.

Most likely because Tatooine has been overused in the movies as a starting point for the hero but they still wanted a desert junk planet. Jakku is fine.

It's funny how Disney has constantly misjudged star wars. For a long time the prequels were hated on, a lot. But leading up to the purchase of Lucasfilm, the prequels were starting a resurgence. They still get their share of flack, but overall, the demand has gone way up.

And the same thing will happen to the ST. It will get more popular over time.

Fast-forward 10 years: a new SW trilogy is wrapping up. Cries are that Kevin Mayer (CEO) and Kevin Feige ruined Star Wars, and wouldn't it be great if we could go back to the good old days of Bob Iger and Kathleen Kennedy...

With anything there is a lot of what if. If the next set of movies after Kennedy, are complete turd-bombs, the sequel trilogy is elevated immensely. Either way, over time people look at things through different lenses, that's just natural. I think the one problem/complaint that will never really go away with the sequels, are the missed opportunities. I know for me that will never change. Also, the rise of skywalker will have a lot to do with how the overall perception of the sequels ends up over time.

I highly doubt that considering he’s someone who actually likes fans.

Exactly! Endgame was made for fans. So many call backs, Easter eggs, fan service moments... all while telling the story they wanted to tell. Feige understands the history of the IP, its meaning to the fans all while telling a great story. So I see almost no possibility of the same issues with his star wars.

I highly doubt that. People love Kevin Feige for how he created the MCU and how its appealed to it's fans. I believe Kevin if he partners up with Dave Filoni to create a new trilogy, it could be really good. Especially if they focus on Ashoka Tano and explore the unknown regions of space with new and old characters.

Any chance we get something "The Mandalorian" inspired coming to the land in the future? The show is really awesome so far and I would love for it to get some representation in the park, especially since some parts remind me of things that were planned for Galaxy's Edge. As far as I know, it would fit into the timeline of the land too.
Baby Yoda would move a TON of merch as well.

It was my understanding that combined with the playdisney app, your results on the ride could differ based on credits in your bank. Likewise, credits earned on the ride show in the playdisney app along with other credits you earn throughout the land. We were able to earn credits around the land, and also in the queue for SR, but could not get the score on SR to show on the app.

But, even without the playdisney app, your score does vary on the ride based on the actions of each of the six guests. That's what got our attention. We noticed the score in August during the AP preview. With minimal lines we rode SR several times and began to notice the different results, actions, score, etc. Thus, it can be frustrating to ride with guests who have no clue, or who want young children to enjoy the thrill of being pilots. I totally get the latter, but we love games and trying to improve our scores. Thus, we are addicted to TSMM.

It was very interesting that shortly after our recent Sept/Oct trip where we used the playdisney app, I received a survey specifically about it. Questions about battery drain (it kills your battery!), ease of using, where we played it, etc. We used it both in SWGE and also at MK.

Is it wierd that i visit the parks and minus photos and changing fastpasses i want to leave my phone in my pocket and enjoy my escape from reality?
