Someone on Facebook posted a picture of this hefty looking thing being moved into place today. Anyone have a idea what it is?

And half the people will be standing there taking selfies.

Do we forget the Backlot tour so quickly? it was sectioned like this.. tho with long waits inbetween.

The Star Trek Experience had different phases like this too.. the live actors and being on your feet are part of what made the attraction so different from the run of the mill..

But honestly with the 'it has to accomodate everyone' theory these days and over the top safety precautions.. I have a hard time seeing how this can be done in any fashion that feels natural.

Do you guys really think that Disney would design a ride where getting on and off the ride is not done as fast and efficiently as possible? They are going to have ways to get slower moving guests back on the ride. They could have a car get loaded off to the side before rejoining the group. One thing Disney does well is gets people on and off the ride quickly. Look at Space Mountain. How long does that coaster wait until moving on to seat belt check? It's about a 30 second load/unload time

Accomplished by multiple staging elements to ensure the ride cycles quickly. Each of these staging points, queue, grouper, per seat line, load, safety check.. add up when it comes to the lack of continuity for the guest.

Having trackless vehicles does open up some creative possibilities of when and where you load. I'm not saying it'll work but you have more options.

Avatarland didn't have any construction issues though and has actually moved at a pretty good pace. The issue was they annouced it too early.

You think? They've been working on the floating rocks for nearly a damned year. Just sayin'. They weren't moving at this speed. Maybe 30-40% of this speed.

Well I am sure it's going to feel slow once rock work has to be done for swl. Remember they are just doing foundation stuff and given the concept art there is a lot of rock work to be done.

I was there that day too, and I must have just missed her up on the structure recording...I can also say that when I left after dark, they had a bunch of flood lights on with work going on well into the night.
