LOL NES rendered realtime

using.jpg

No one is talking about 2D sprites and tiles. No the NES was not just displaying bitmaps... but that means nothing when we are talking about real-time 3d rendering of the content. The NES still fundamentally used pre-defined images... stored and drew in a way to be highly efficient for memory and compute. When we are talking about 3D rendering.. the image to be seen is not pre-set.. it's determined in near-real time from a model.

Thank you for a better explanation than I could give.

This whole conversation is hurting my head. Real time rendering just means that a machine renders images fast enough to depict realistic motion. That's it. It has nothing to do with the quality of the images. Yes, an NES renders in real time, but all you get an NES game out of it. You're not going to play MFSR on a One X. That's why it's so impressive.

You're right... even in the first 10 seconds when it crashes into a pillar, it should've ripped apart half the ship. It doesn't get better. it definitely looks like they're piloting something the size of an escape pod.

Throughout the video, the movement seems a lot more like the comical flying/crashing seen in Star Tours 2 vs how the Falcon is in the films.

I also noticed that most of the video it feels like the Falcon's on the leash... like you're flying through a tunnel. I wonder if any of the other scenarios allow for more open space flight.

But dang does the gunner position look uninspired... the dude is literally just sitting there spamming the button.
Apparently if you want a real challenge as a gunner, turn of auto. Then you actually have to aim and shoot.

You re a video game guy. Can you explain to me why they Keep bragging about the Falcon playing out in real time? Don’t all video games do this? When I was playing Super Mario 64 in 1996 he moved where I wanted him to in a 3D world and different things happened depending on where I went/ did and what buttons I pushed. I get that this is way more advanced but what am I missing? Is it just the this is happening in conjunction with the simulator moving?

I assume it's because something like this really hasn't been seen in a theme park. Everything going on in the ride has been seen in video games on one level or another (just for example, the whole movement while playing thing was a feature of the old Jurrasic Park arcade shooter game), but even the more interactive rides (such as BLAB and TSMM) don't give you this sort of control over the action.

The only purpose for the gunners on the MF was to defend it from the rear, sides, and under the MF. You can also shoot lasers from the cockpit. They shoot the front. Also the there are concussion missiles . I am surprise you can't use those on the MF ride.

Sure they are. Big Thunder is trying to make you believe you’re in a runaway mine car. Matterhorn is trying to make you believe you’re sliding down the Swiss Alps in a bobsled. Splash Mountain is trying to make you believe you’re going through the backwoods of the Deep South. Space Mountain is trying to make you believe you’re in a ship in space.

They all have different levels of immersion, but immersion nonetheless. It’s what separates a theme park from an amusement park. How well you accept and play into that immersion is up to you. You’re still in the real world with real world physics and surroundings. So at some point you just have to accept certain things from the movies are either not logistically possible or not physically possible due to constraints of the real world.
You could not be more wrong. They are rides that happen to take place in a fake mountain environment where as Smuggler's Dissapointment tries to make you think you are aborad the one and only Millenium Flacon. Prove me wrong!!

It’s not about proving you wrong, as I couldn’t care less about your opinion. If you want to be stubborn and put unrealistic expectations and parameters on SW:GE and attractions that is on you.

"Couldn't care less" yet still responds. LMAO!! LOOK BRO let's just agree to disagree. You and I may never agree but at least I respect your point of view for being different than mine. Hope you feel the same way.

Again i dont think having higher expectations is out of ordinary for what Disney is going for in this land

As of right now, it still looks like Buzz Lightyear and Toy Story have higher skill ceilings than the Falcon. I'm curious to see what kinds of Easter Eggs and people find and strategies they dream up, as well as what kind of value the money you earn at the end of the ride holds throughout the land.

Falcon shouldn’t even have a preshow, it should just be C3PO and Chewie having a conversation like C3PO and R2 have in the Star Tours queue. You just pass by and get some basic run down on how the Resistance needs help then you board to pilot.
