you would think that they would allow reservations only so that the time slots don't go to waste. They also said there wouldn't be any standby line but i wonder if they are saying that to avoid crowds showing up and at the last minute depending on the group size they allow some guests to go in.
We also had to login and I’d say at least most guests doing this with APs have it linked to their account. Auto filtering blackouts might’ve helped somewhat, along with directing you to purchase a ticket if you were blocked/didn’t have an AP in order to finalize your reservation. We could see that loophole as soon as it was announced tho. I’m wondering if creating artificial demand was purposeful since the land is only opening with one ride

That and the little blue pill can become expensive, I understand....

But priorities man! This is a once in a lifetime event! Ok, twice in a lifetime if you go to both openings, but still....
I understand the excitement, but since I'm really only a big fan of the one-and-only-Episode IV, which will always be one of the most amazing cinematic achievements in human history, I'm okay waiting until the BIG ride is up and running. But I wish everyone going a lot of fun and good times. It should be great.

A lot of people on Twitter complaining they opened the page at 10:05am and waiting the two hours and it never went in, yet I opened the page at 11:15am and never saw the wait page and immediately booked my time.

Was I lucky, or did these people miss the boat and are pretending they waited, or did they have other issues like local wifi?

i did the same thing for some co-workers. i opened up the page after 11am and went right into booking.

I bet you some of these people kept refreshing the page when it specifically said no to

Whenever the page does a soft refresh, it picks a random number from 1-2000 and if it matches some arbitrary value, it lets you in. Some people got very lucky, it's very probable that some waited the full two hours and did not get in.

** SAD NEWS **
This just in - actor Peter Mayhew just passed away on April 30th.
Sad times in the Star Wars world today... ;-(
Oh no! Not Chewie! I know he has been sick for many years. It's sad the last time I saw him was at Wondercon. RIP Chewie.

Honest, non-sarcastic question for people who are trying to get reservations: why are you interested in going the first month? Why not wait till this is over?

Disney is opening an entire new land (and the biggest in the entire resort) for one of the most famous IPs in pop culture history while opening original E ticket attractions (the first time in over 20 years) and you are surprised people are showing up for it opening month? Disney is only doing it this way to stop the millions who will all show up opening week and even this is just a stop gap measure because once they open it to everybody its going to be a complete zoo regardless. This way the few lucky ones who did get reservations can see it without waiting an hour just to get in the land at least and probably why so many wanted the reservation.

For the people who don't care (or not as much) they probably can wait it out a few months or at least until after the summer. But hard core SW fans would probably be sleeping out in tents right now if Disney didn't go this direction. It was a smart move and probably something they should've just done for the whole summer or at least through July.

I was logged in since 9am and was allowed to make my reservation about 10 minutes past 10. One hurdle I had to overcome was reconfirming my email for some reason.
