Disney can never guarantee a reservation. This is always been the case. So you have to still get there early and be aggressive to get in. I'm sure the people who miss their window won't get in. This happens a lot, but sometimes this is Disney's fault when they tell the guests to come back later and then reneg when circumstances change. Don't leave the area. Come back in a few minutes and be persistent.

The latest from the Florida thread is Martin Smith says ROTR could be delayed just past summer, and that the issues aren’t huge, but maybe larger than he had first heard.

Funny how that works.

The rumors on this coast, mainly linked here as coming from the Micechat group, have been that the Resistance ride is delayed by months and months, not weeks.

It's easy to see that the May 31st opening wasn't a plan to open it part-way until the AP's are blocked out in late June, it was a realization by TDA that Resistance is months and months away from opening and there is no ability to delay the land opening waiting for Resistance to be done. The Falcon ride is done, the land is ready, so might as well open now and wait until the fall (Halloween? Thanksgiving?) for the Resistance ride.

I just have this sinking feeling that this whole Star Wars Land thing is going to be messy for most of 2019.

There were some people walking around in Cars Land with the previous time slot's color when I was there. I don't know how strict the CMs were about enforcing it. I think most people (myself included) just left at the appropriate time since the color was clearly visible.

You're not supposed to line jump but I've rarely seen CMs enforce that one when they see it happen. It can't be fun for CMs to try to enforce that sort of thing.

They can get the Tom Sawyer CM's to do it, They are great with crawling thru spaces and telling everyone to move towards the rafts. They also do it in a couple minutes and they have to deal with running children

Maybe both coasts are right. We’re further along in construction so whatever bugs they work out here can only benefit Florida, especially with their later opening date

I think a lot of this stuff is blown out of proportion.

Watch DL RotR will end up opening the end of June around the rumored original opening of the land and we'll all be thinking what the fuss was really all about.

OK - take it how you will - I talked to a contact who worked at the WDW site and here's what he said was/is wrong at WDW..his words...
(its long...) This is him typing to me......

ok, ill start with it all goes back to the structural phase, it started out rough,
it began roughly 2 months before anything else and detail errors pushed it back 2
more months as soon as it started going up

columns were in the wrong spots, the floors being underrated for the required weight
support, the "elevators" not being deep enough to name a few and general misfabrications
of structural members on the architects end. they we still fixing things well into
the ride installation phase

Just DHS that i know of, but the findings all came from DL. but by the time word
came through the tubes it was too late. they came out of the gate swinging in florida.
we had all the consultants from dl to aid the progress in the beginning. its why
we caught up so fast

now these buildings were copied over from buildings engineered structures of California.
and naturally we followed construction schedules from them... they forgot about
floridas year round rainiy season and humidity. ride installation is in full swing...
and they just started climate contoling the building..

scuppers werent installed on one side of the building to accommodate the rockwork crews.
water built up so high on that side of the building and flooded entire work areas.
when it happened, it also shorted out the de-humidifying systems... this happened on
a friday night when all were gone for the weekend. when we came in it was almost
surreal. millions of dollars of computer equipment was destroyed and weeks were
spent just drying up the place and trying to prevent rust

water was coming in from the ac units on the roof that werent fully weather sealed in
now these are just florida stories, but major causes of delays of the attraction none
the less

oh there was plenty of internal fighting at management levels all across the board
when i was there

i know the 2nd company i was working for there origianally had the contract for
the villages and the rides. they grossly underbid the villages and lost it to
another company and have been taking a loss ever since.

and from what i know, those financial losses all stem from Alcatraz ...
its why team big bird never got any overtime. no need for it, couldnt afford it

Well, if you wanted to screw up a new ride, that'd do it.

Wow.

Thank you for the information, and welcome back. Now of course this applies only to DHS, but its an interesting story of things we know wrong with TDO.

This is the problem when you have a purpose built land or attraction built specifically for one park and then tried to clone it for another park, but don't make adjustments specific to that park.

Obviously TDO tried to cut corners to save money by not adjusting building plans to meet the requirements of Florida. Bit them in the A$$ as it seems to always do....

Welllllll..... if it’s not open by D23, I’ll probably book a trip to Florida in the Spring. Because I NEED to see RoTR.

This was their plan all along. :p

I might be nuts, but the thought did cross my mind that perhaps the opening of RoTR at Disneyland will involve a special treat for attendees of the D23 Expo this August.
Much like they held a 'private' showing of the then all new and updated 'Fantasmic!' last Expo for attendees.

I could see them doing this...maybe....
Would certainly make the fans totally wet themselves who attended, and also garner lots of publicity for the Expo and end product.

This would only apply to D23 guests who have valid access to Disneyland park on the day of the expo, which I'm not sure a lot would.

Also, we're not THAT crazy.
