It's easy. The line to get into SWL will go pass a current smoking area. All of those people waiting to get in will be gassed.

It's only a smoking area now, because it is an under-utilized walkway. The smokers WILL be moved come opening, that's prime real estate that is questionably going to be second only to Main Street for crowd demand. Much like Tron will likely displace the smoking area at MK.

Is it really that memorable? I see it as something that's easily mistaken for another of the many plus named services out there. It's simple but it also blends into all the other options. I'll certainly be using the service but I just wish they went with something more unique and that screamed Disney.

I'm not sure how many other + named services there are out there. Just doing a really quick search in the Apple Store there is one that I could find, Calculator+, and I don't think Disney+ is going get mistaken for that or vice-versa.

Anyways, sure they could have come up with something else, but I'm sure there was some market research done on best names for a streaming service.

Just under Disney (or will be after Fox is done), FX+, ESPN+, and Hulu Plus (although the plus has been phased out even though it's still widely referred to as that).
Then a bunch of channels use Plus the same way Go and Now are standard. MSG plus, Star Plus, Discovery Plus, among many others and then there are the music streaming services.
Ultimately the name won't matter as much. And it looks like the content it'll have will be well worth it. Seriously hoping we get some remastered shorts and World of Color.

I guess it depends on how consumers will be accessing the service. I'd imagine a majority would be using a mobile device, like their idevice or android. So when someone is searching for the Disney+ app in either Apple or Google app stores, there isn't a big list of apps with + in the name that will confuse users. Plus most would likely just search for Disney or Disney Streaming, and it'll be ranked so that Disney+ will show up first.

Anyways, I agree ultimately the name won't matter much as users will just get used to it.

Isn't the tearm DisneyPlay already in use? I remember it being related to Disney video.
Not that I'm familiar with. Disney used to have a Fastplay feature on their blu-ray/dvds so you could skip ahead to the movie.

DisneyPlay was the code name for the streaming service, they changed it to fall in-line with the other streaming service they have ESPN+ and to not confuse people with Play Disney which is the game app.

I'm just going to leave this here and hopefully end this derailment of the thread. Walt Disney had a tumor on his left lung the size of a softball. He smoked unfiltered Chesterfields since his youth. People say Walt died from cancer, technically he died from two cardiac arrests...the first in his home, had to be revived, was rushed to the hospital, seemed to be improving before suffering a an acute circulatory collapse. But I don't think it's a stretch to say chronic smoking shortened his life by increasing his odds for cancer. Sure, people are free to smoke, drink, what have you (I'm a bit on the libertarian side, myself), but you might want to consider smoking at Disneyland to be, well, sorta in bad taste.

Now, can we get back to a long, long time from now in an Orange Grove far away?

Well some new safety railings were spotted a few days ago. So there’s that.

I’m not sure why folks get so worried about threads derailing. If there is anything interesting going on, people will naturally talk about it. If not, they’ll talk about second hand smoke on the Big Thunder Trail. 99% of the time if a thread derails its because there is nothing going on.

I know right, this thread has been derailed since the beginning. We've discussed almost everything in this thread including but not limited to this classic Life Day moment:
