Well...if I had to predict before hand - I’d say that the studios addition was gonna look “cheap” and that California adventure overlay was gonna look “half A”

Is that how it’s playing out? They kinda set themselves up for that.

The work in Florida is a logistical mess...they are trying to make a cheap, purposefully underbuilt Park into a capacity eater that can swallow a magic kingdom type crowd. The “attraction” areas are really just an afterthought to the infrastructure work. But I fear they made a big mistake and went too small with the scope. One of the things the Disney people and first half Eisner did was build out a little bit on the “too big” side...that is responsible for a lot of the Disney reputation and feel.

But since...and definitely with Bob...it’s been a “what’s enough?” Approach. That mentality is resulting in underwhelming construction more often than not. “New fantasyland” is a joke...it appears toy story is falling in line with that - even though in line with reasonable expectations.

I hope this Star Wars thing is what it’s being hyped as. That’s a little blind faith that they value Star Wars as we “hope” they do. I dunno. The thing that still is a complete red flag is that it’s the same size as a shoehorned Disneyland version. Big mistake since the market dynamic is different.

The other thing is the early and persistent rumors that this is the “first phases”. That’s foolhardy. Unless Comcast really goes nuts, the intelligent take is that we are looking at a big lockdown on expenses in the 2020s...it goes to pattern.

We’ll see...

I think they made a mistake with footprint at studios...should have done more to expand it now and ripped the bandaid off. Now they’ll have two high demand areas tacked on to the same bad layout, more or less.

Indeed.

I dont expect it to be incomplete. They might cut from the budget in ways we won't notice because we were never made aware of some of their concepts. Also, steel and aluminum tarrifs will certainly hurt the budget. will disney loosen the purse strings to finish the project, or have all of the parts already been ordered ahead of the recently looming trade war?

At this point in the project exteriors are almost all completed. So I would think any steel required is likely already in place. And any aluminum would have been preordered as part of the overall project. Its not like they are still ordering new stuff this late in the build. Only time that would happen would be if a part broke during construction and a replacement part is needed. But on a project this size they would put padding into the budget for issues like that. And if Disney is like any other large corporation they'd order extra of things. Its easy to roll that stuff into new projects, then to have to order it last minute.

So I don't think any trade war would affect SW:GE. It might affect Marvel, but not SW:GE.

This is interesting.... The transition from Toy Story Land to Star Wars Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Or, if there's any remaining steel or aluminum to be purchased for either Star Wars Land they could buy it from American companies employing American blue collar workers who pay American taxes on their wages and spending. ;)

Good morning, Rip...a lot has changed since we last saw you in 1968🤡

I honestly have no idea what that sentence refers to. But good morning!

Dang, I wish I was good at photo shopping, I'd photoshop a person trying to squeeze through that tiny walkway.

LOL!

But I think the walkway will be fine, and no more narrow than the similar walkway in Disneyland that enters from this similar angle, which starts with this sweeping curve downhill towards the railroad berm...

Leading to this entry portal under the berm, which would then enter the land at the same spot in DHS...

Or no more narrow than the the size of the third entrance at Disneyland further to the west....
DL20170730_0018-1500x1000.jpg

Which also sweeps under the railroad, this time on a iron trestle above, before heading through a cave for the third entrance into the land...

What I find interesting is how quickly the lands transition from the primary colors for Toy Story Snack Bar and the wacky entrance marquee for Alien Swirling Saucers to Star Wars Land.

There's still about 20 yards of walkway left to be landscaped and buffered, but in the aerial photo it's a very abrupt change when it comes to color schemes and design themes. I think this is where it's easiest to tell Star Wars Land was originally designed for Disneyland in its current location, and then added to DHS later in the design process. The buffer zones seem shorter and more abrupt at DHS, from a color scheme and atmosphere perspective. It's this type of nerdy minutiae that could get me to fly out to Orlando to experience the differences in person.

Actually, I think they entrance from TSL in FL is located where DL's middle entrance is in your third and fourth pics.

It reminds me a lot of the transition between Bugs’s Land and Carsland, where once entering you are hit with Cadillac range and rockwork. Very similar set up.

You're all free to stop in the connecting tunnel and count to 20 to avoid your brain exploding from such a quick transition.

I hope you all keep yourself safe from such a dreadful condition as you walk into any land in any castle park and do something so dreadful as look back over your shoulder.

Or run your hand along the fence as you move from one land to another. WALT!

But I mention the increasingly apparent differences between the two Star Wars Lands because of that whole "blessing of size" thing that WDW allegedly has. That doesn't appear to be the case when it comes to Star Wars Land.

Well it will have a hotel connected to it, a significant feature DLR's SW:GE won't have presumably because there isn't room for one.

Yeah, here's the blessing of size...

Now, I will highlight the expansion pad for SWL in purple...
