Committee meetings are going to over-analyze this to death. They'll get their top men on it. Will it happen again though? I'm sure it will. I personally think it all just came down to bad timing.
Bad (greedy) timing and a story featuring an iconic character the public will never disassociate from Harrison Ford. Also, if the production hadn't had such a troubled, cost-overrun history, it might have at least broken even. I'm glad no one's blaming Ron Howard.

How could you blame Opie??? Nice man too. I was once late for a flight from London to LA and thought I would miss it, but then I looked in the terminal and ol' Ron Howard was being escorted to the plane. I figured there's no way they'd leave him behind! I thanked him for being famous enough to hold the plane.

Awesome! I'd have thanked him for Cocoon, too. :D

Welp, my prediction that Solo wouldn't be a flop was wrong. Time to get a new crystal ball I guess. I'm genuinely very surprised by this, especially since it's a decent movie.

i was reading a real interesting article a couple days ago about some of the issues that Disney might have to consider going forward with the franchise. It all had to do with the recent news that one of the female asian stars of the movies had to close some of her social media accounts because of threats and abuse against her from obsessive racist star wars fans.

i had no idea that there are actually groups that have gone so far as to bombard social media with negativity because Disney and Lucas film has been using minorities and women in the franchise. supposedly these same groups have gathered to even give the movies negative reviews and done everything possible to spread any negative information.

Surprisingly Solo solo has a white male as lead and it was the first movie to be somehow affected by some of their actions.

I wonder if this plus bad timing contributed to an actually good movie doing as bad as it is.

I too read up on the Rose actress thing. It's really disgusting the lengths some insecure people will go in their hatred of other people.

Agreed. I think Last Jedi had a lot of problems--and just might be the worst SW film ever in many ways--but it's all screenplay related. Blaming a cast member for a stupidly-written scene is ridiculous. Actually *threatening* them is beyond deplorable.

Good video. He doesn't mention that easy accessible AR has been available for free on all phones through Pokemon Go since 2016...but the light saber project looks like great fun. Guests will be throwing out their shoulders and pulling muscles right and left, but it still looks fun.

He actually does mention that the technology has been around for awhile and showed several examples of people using. it through Google and their Iphones. But its clear Disney wants to take it to another level completely and to do it in a theme park environment will be a lot of fun. If they can really pull it off that is. But if anyone can, its Disney.

Providing they don't slash budgets. :D Universal is also (supposedly) planning to use AR for the weaponry on the upcoming Mario Kart ride. I'll always prefer using as much physical, solid material in an attraction as possible, but the ability to use AR and VR to create experiences that simply cannot exist otherwise really is fascinating.

Yep, and there was that whole racist fan Twitter hysteria over John Boyega a few years ago.

I’ve found a couple good looking T shirts for men in the last few years but they re that Hanes construction cotton material that I hate.

I like the heavier weight cotton like the Hanes line. The lightweight junk that most clothes are made from today are so cheap and clingy at the first sign of sweat that they may as well be made for wet tshirt contests. Give me a premium professional weight cotton anyday over the seethru 1 ply shirts!

The very latest views from our favorite lady blogger...

And watch through at least halfway for an example of how Disneyland USA continues to charm the young Millenial generation, who will soon create the next generation of Disneyland fans.

Hahaha ya some of them are definitely too thin but somewhere between Hanes and what you re talking about lies a nice middle ground.
